  • How long is the wait?

I had my disability hearing on the 2nd of this month. I can't go through this not knowing much longer! My lawyer said that she thought it was going to be in my favor considering how short the hearing was (15-20 minutes max). But I'm going crazy. How long does it take them to reply in these cases? This has been the longest two weeks of my life!

sorry that you have to wait and even had to get an atty. I hope that they rule in your favor and soon. I appied in august and didn't get approved until december.. they usually say 90 to 120 days for approval in the state where I live...
    good luck let us know.

120 DAYS????? I may go out of my mind before than. I feel like I'm expected to live my life in suspended animation until they make up their minds. What really upsets me is that I'm sure that they made up their minds that day. I suppose they throw the other 119 in just for fun!

In MI it's 90 days between decisions and mine came on the 89th day, both times. Read the info that you got from SS and it sould tell you what the guide line and time lapses are~

thanks terri, I wasn't sure how long the wait was.. probably because I had to go and see there physcologist that I had to wait nearly a month to get into see..i did however look at my papers and I filed in August and got my first check 3 days before christmas..so now that I am more clear minded it was about 89 3/4 of a day....
I do agree they take much too long, but, at least they check out everything to be sure there is not any scams on ssd, for those of us who need it..
          Good luck to you...

The Judge can take anywhere from 60-90 days after your hearing. you will get a letter if your approved you will have a check within 30-60 days i just went threw this it took me two years all together to get this done but i did have the judge to rush my a bit because we was about to lose our house and land. and also our cars. so i had another lawyer that i was working with to send a fax to my lawyer which sent it to the judge to have ssd to rush mine because of hardship they do have an hardship program. if you need any more help please feel free to email me and ask any question you need too. I can only tell you what has happen to me and what was done but you may find it helpful if you was like me and needed your money NOW. with my husband the only one that is working things really got hard and if it wasnt for me hireing another lawyer to help fight for our house and keep putting off the forcloser i would have lost everything. I'm so thankful for the two lawyers that help me. they where wonderful. I guess you could say God was on my side. in my opioning ssi ssd doesnt care for anyone as a person all they see you is as a number or a peice of paper you have to sometimes keep on them or you will get nothing done if you need your money asap. Best of luck to you. grouphug

you might be able to get more information by calling the ssd office or your ssi office near you on your case if they have done anything to it they will be able to tell you over the phone just thought i would add that that may also be helpful to you. wink

I applied for disability on February 19th. I called my disability case worker today and she said that a decision has been made but she could not tell me via telephone she said that I would be getting a letter in the mail. I asked again about her telling me what the decision was and she said that she could not tell me because the case might for some reason have to be pulled for review. I take this as good news thinking that I have been approved because reviews are usually done every three years after you are approved. Right? Anyway, I called the social security office and nothing has been posted on my case there either yet but the case worker will check again tomorrow and let me know when she finds out something. This waiting is killing me. One of the last things that I did was to have my family doctor draw a Chronic Epstein Barr virus titer and it showed chronic convalescent stages with a very high chronic titer which should have been enough to meet their criteria of CEBV and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Keep your fingers crossed. I will let you know when I hear something. Susan
