need info on SS

My mother has IC and is thinking about applying for disability. She is single and owns a salon. She must keep working in order to provide for herself. Does she have to stop working for a period of time before she applies for SS? Would she be able to work and receive SS? I'm so confused on the whole SS issues. Help! Does anyone have any advice on what she should do first.

I just got approved for ss disability. I was getting disability from my work before that. I don't think it is a good idea to work while you apply. There is a web site about social security, she should check that out. Good luck, it is not easy to get. I can't imagine being a hair dresser with this disease.
