Thanks Jess, Liz, Teri, and Coyote. Yes Liz this is the one. I started in March of this year and I contacted the congressman and he speeded things up with the judge. wink

Lisa if you dont mind me asking how did you get your Congressman involved??
I have just had my recondsideration hearing denied and my next step is the ALJudge
Do you have a lawyer yet? I cant decide if I need one I think maybe I will get denied one more time before giving up 25%.
I hope everything going well for you.

In Oregon we have one congressman who is very easy to reach. When I needed some intervention I sent him a letter, telling him I needed his help. I got a very quick response.

                  Good luck!

                    I've got a question:

I submitted a claim a couple of months ago, and I was wondering, what do you ask the Congressman? I am thinking of asking for help, but I am not sure how helpful he will be. *Sigh* I wish I could have more faith in the way this state works! But I have seen disabled people in wheelchairs who kept getting denied, even though they had very serious illnesses that some people get approved for!

                    Hugs,
                    Jess

What upsets me is those that are really disabled but turned down, then there's those that aren't disabled, but get the benefits because of either a crooked lawyer or doctor.

Best of luck on that claim again. I have an over-the-phone appointment, I guess there's alot more to that, but I'd have no idea how to contact any of my congressman. Arkansas only has four I believe.

Hi girls, I too have used a congress rep. wil disability as well as my senator. Go to yahoo, scroll down to a contact area that lists Government, click there a proceed it will ask for your state, what branch, etc. then email them, that is how I got things started. Your state homepage should also have htese emails or addresses available for you. Maybe if we all get them involved that some eyes will open to this issue in Washington. Good luck

I also was denied the first time even with there backing, I have hired an attorney for my disability. i also emailed the government back and informed them I feel it is insane to have to pay for disability by using an attorney.

                        OHHHHHH Good Luck Lisa

Hang in there! Sounds like you've done your homework. And, it should be a little easier now from the work of the ICN to get a listing for IC as a disabling condition.

Good luck. We'll all be there in spirit during the hearing. Just look above and behind you. Sending an angel to watch over you.
Positive thoughts and prayers that new treatments for IC will reach all who struggle with this disease,

I had written my congressman a letter about a week and a half ago, and today I got a letter in the mail from him and he requested more information as to why I need his help, and then I had to sign consent forms for him to help and for him to see my disability case, medical stuff, etc. I signed away.

Anyway, I assume that is normal...for those of you who had that done, did you have that paper? If so, how long after you sent it in did the ball start rolling? I wish I had known about this Congressman stuff sooner, he seems very willing to help me.

Also, the doctor thinks I have CFS...should I let SSI know?

                            Thanks!!!

I can't say if this will help but it certainly won't hurt. If you are in pain that day, don't be "polite" during the hearing by keeping quiet and keeping the pain to yourself. If you feel you have to leave the room to go to the ladies room, just raise your hand and ask the ALJ politely if you can excuse yourself for a moment. Hopefully, he or she might get the message!
