Hi. I never thought I would even have to consider this but I have no other choice. I called the 800 number and the lady asked me alot of questions and set me up a phone interview on 11/27 with a local SS person. What kind odf questions are they going to ask me? I can't go in person b/c it's too hard and too far to drive. I just really want to be prepared. They told me to have the names, addresses, phone #s of my Drs,birth certificate, proof of house payment, life ins policy, and a list of all my meds. My Dr and I haven't discussed all of this but she knows and I haven't been able to work in months. I guess what I really need to know is what will they ask me and are there any "trick" questions I need to know about. Where do things go after I have my phone interview? I feel kinda lost about all of this. We are financially in major distress. This month I will have to pick and choose on which meds I can get refilled. Just need some advice from someone that has been there. Thanks in advance!! Amy

I was paranoid before my first interview too and it was a waste of worry time. The girl I talked to was super. I answered everything honestly and with as few words as possible. Then they sent me a zillion forms. On my own I went to each dr to get copies of my records, I also went to each hospital and did the same. I wrote a letter to each of my dr's explaining what IC had progressed to and what a "NORMAL" day in the life of teri was. My daughter was born with an over load of brains (she's almost 31 and the older she gets the smarter she gets) so she was able to help me fill out all of the paper.
For me, to keep my sanity, I had to look at it like a mission and it was a mission I was NOT going to loose! I was able to send ALL of my records to SS so that if I had a lazy dr who hadn't gotten around to it yet there was no hold ups. I was denied on the original application but approved on the first appeal. Took 6 months, almost to the day.
The ICA has a fantastic book on how to file and win without the cost of an attorney and it was worth every penny I paid for it
So, stop worrying....
and let us know what happens.

I know how scary ssd interview can , but just pray, let God call the shots and tell them just how you feel. When I had my experience my doctor wrote a letter and told them that I was no longer able to work. Don' be intimitated and be truthful ahort and sweet you might want to go to the willipedia site and check out hteir writeup on ic and even give or send them a copy of the article. read it and tell me what you think. I believe I was the first one to go htat route as I am 52 and mine started when I was 20, so I have had a long haul and still praying for a healing. I know there is an answer for us we jusst have to find it. My prayers is that I can help younger women not have to travel as hard od =f a road as I have had to travel. My husband both feel it is our call in life to help younger couples because he has put up with me and my ic. and we have survived 35 years of marriage. If we can save one marriage or help one man or women or child. It will be worth everything to us.
It is hadr on the entire family. but anyway , I found everything I could concerning ic. and the symptoms and took it to me when i had to go to get the SSD. If you need anything other advise and if I can help let me know.
God bless and good luck . Don't worry and get a lawyer who will do it on a contingent basis. I hope I don't get in trouble telling this on the sight. All I know really is my own experience. Some attorneys will take your case and only charge you if you win, and you have nothing to lose.. Don't give up if they turn you down 15 times. I know that sounds funny but it will happen for you, believe me God knows what you need and he will seee you through.
ask and believe that you have already recieved and you will have whatever you ask in Jesus name.Comment

I don't know about the interview because I just picked up an application and spoke to them on the telephone to answer one question. One thing I would start doing immed. is getting a copy of all your doctor records and pharmacy fills, which the pharmacy should be able to print out by the year.
There are also some great books on disability in the ICN shop. I wish you the best and quick approval.
