Tomorrow is my first interview with Sosical Security. I called them for an application a few weeks ago and ended up having a telephone interveiw. One hour later Social Security here in Jersey called and set up a regular interveiw.
I only had a phone interview Diane so I don't know what a face to face will involve. I live in Michigan and I have to say that the SS people I talked to at my local office AND in Lansing were absoluately wonderful, kind and loaded with respect. They actually made the process very easy for me. I did have a HUGE problem with the dr they sent me to and when I got home I called my case worker and filed a formal complaint....I was a little leary that it would screw up my chances of being approved but this man not only treated me like DIRT, he would not allow my daughter to be in the room during the exam....our SS law GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER PRESENT if you have difficulty understand and retaining information. My case worker was pleased that I reported him. She told me that she hoped more would report him because he only needed a few more turned in against him and they were dropping him. Out side of that one episode I have nothing but positive feelings about the whole process. Just be HONEST, HONEST to the core.
You deserve this. You have done all a human being can possibly do to stay in the work force. I am so proud of you that you have been able to make the decision to take care of yourself!
tons and tons of hugs,
and some good luck prayers too

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".
