  • Applying for DLA

i am in England and our disability benefits are called disability living allowance. I am thinking of applying again, as i am struggling and need the money. I have been turned down twice for it, and i don't see why they keep turning me down as i am registered disabled and i have multiple long term conditions which make daily life very hard. i just have to find courage and determination to apply for the 3rd time.

i know most people on here are in amercia but is there anyone on here from England that has applied for DLA and generally what are peoples experiences of applying for disability benefits

Sorry you haven't had any response as of yet sinead. My reply will "bump" you back to the top and hopefully someone from your area will see your question.

I wish you luck in your application. Do you, as we do here, use and attorney to apply for disability? I know that here we have to show that not just the IC but the depression and fatigue that accompany IC is part of why we are disabled. Also, if you have any of the other illnesses that can go along with IC be sure to let them know how they affect your life, such as Fibro, CFS, VV, or IBS and anything else you may be experiencing. I know for me it was hard to share just how bad it is, we are all raised to somewhat not share our problems with others, but for this purpose I had to really let it all out. It wasn't easy for me to do. Thankfully I was approved and the small amount I recieve has helped immensely with my medical bills.

I wish you the best of luck.
