  • Waiting on Judge's ruling.

I had my disability hearing before an appeals Judge after being denied 3 times. Have not worked full time since 2010 and not at all since Jan. 2011. I have had IC for many years and was diagnosed in 2002. The vocational expert the court hires said I could no longer do my career any longer(radiology) but could do the 3 jobs he came up with as long as I wore a "medical incontinence device" or in other words an adult DIAPER!!! I was so upset but kept my mouth shut and let my lawyer handle it and he asked him the right questions about my IC and it's effect on holding down any job. He was able to get the vocational person to recant his answer and state there were no jobs I could preform. The Judge told me I would get his decision in the mail in a few weeks. My question is does it sound favorable that I won my case and also how long does it usually take to get the letter and start getting monthly checks?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

It at least sounds like there is a chance for approval. I have no idea how long it might take to get a check, but if you're approved you should have a healthy back-pay check coming. Please be sure to let us know.

    Wishing you success,
    Donna

Thank you so much Donna for your well wishes. I will update when I do hear something... good or bad. You know it really hurt to hear the vocational expert say I would never work in my field again. I knew that myself and I know that will help my case but it still hurts to hear that. Especially since I went to school for it and worked at it since 1994. This horrid disease robs you of so much. Prayers for a cure one day.

        Re: Waiting on Judge's ruling.

Don't give up yet. There is a lot of research going on --- and there's always the chance that you will feel better and be able to work again. Not everyone who is deemed to be disabled have found it to be a permanent thing --- that's why they do reviews periodically even after approval.

        Hang in there.
