If you should receive an email from your credit card company indicating possible fraud, do not use the telephone number on the email to check on it. But do call the number listed on the back of your card or on your statement.
I received just such an email this morning --- at first I thought it was just another spam and almost simply deleted it --- then I thought again and decided to call the number on my card. What I found out is that someone had a heyday with my account number yesterday and there was indeed a fraud alert on my account. Fortunately we were able to clear the charges and I will be receiving a new card very quickly.
I'm so very glad I decided to make that call; the almost $3,000 charged to the card yesterday could easily have increased if I hadn't
And if the email turns out to be a spam, all you've wasted is a few minutes.
