        elmiron

i hope that is the case Jill and everyone....
I lucked out today... Medco, my mail order pharmacy sent my RX back saying they didn't have any.

So i called me regular CVS pharmacy and was able to get mine filled... but she told me that it was OUT OF STOCK and they had no idea as to when they will be able to get anymore. So we see, how there seems to be a lot of confusion about the drug out there. CVS said the only reason they were able to fill mine was because they had some stock left.. but that was it!
I really hope and pray that this doesn't last too much longer.
It is bad enough that we all have to suffer so much and then the only FDA drug approved for this crapy disease gets a halt in production and supply! Well let's think on the positive side. and hopefully everyone will be able to get there rx filled very very soon.

          Elmiron shortage

I just called a bunch of pharmacies yesterday and they are still back ordered. They said they had no idea when they would get any in stock. I hope it will be soon and I will keep trying to find some. Has anyone ever ordered it online from Canada? I have never tried it and am unsure about it. Of course I will not be able to use my insurance for it, but if it is my last resort I am willing to pay for it. Both my 14 yr old daughter and I take it, so we need it soon!

            Still waiting in Northern CA

last week I was able to get a partial refill from my pharmacy. I checked back today and still on back order and no idea of when it will be available. I have 2 days of elmiron left. I am scared that I will have a flare as soon as my meds run out.

My question is, what can I do in the meantime short of drinking and eating nothing but water?

I am so dismayed and discouraged right now. Elmiron has been a miracle drug for my IC.

donna: i Firstly, i am very happy that elmiron has helped you.
Since you have two left.... i would call every pharmacy that your insurance will cover in your area and sorounding areas.
even if they are not in your area.. just call a ton of pharmacies and if you luck out and find some, see if they can mail it to you.

Best wishes and best of luck to you. i hope and pray that you will be able to get your hands on some. try to private message anyone on here that has gotten it from canada and see what the procedure is.

Just keep trying, keep the faith.!

Here at the Wal-Mart in Central Texas they had plenty; i know sometimes they might run short but in that case they give me what they can and let me know when the rest will come in. If they don't know for sure they will call around to the other Wal-Marts or even another pharmacy. To those of who are waiting I hope the wait is not too long.

We've been okay here in FL too. Maybe you guys could have your pharmacies (if they're a chain) call into other states and have the meds shipped to their store?

                        Supplies still low here.

Just found out today about the shortage. Went to Walgreens for a refill and was told that "they no longer are making Elmiron" and they couldn't get any from any of their other stores, or their supply chains anymore and I was told to call my doctor and get on something else. sure lady I'll do that. They could not help me. This is what I was told by the pharmacist. . I posted on the other thread.

I called another chain, two different stores under that chain , and they had none . I finally found a few pills at a 3rd store- 23 at one Cvs store, (my refill is for 120). They were more kind and called 9 other stores for me, and were able to supposedly wrangle another 22 pills from the 9 other stores, which I will hopefully get on Friday. What a nightmare. I guess I will have to reduce my meds completely, I will have just short of a month at cut in half the amount. They do not know when they will get any. This store did know about the shortage listed on the FDA website.

Not to sound rude to any of you that got your meds- Are there any other updates, why can't some of get our meds if others can??

There is so much conflicting information out there. The shortage notice doesn't appear to be on the home page for the Elmiron site anymore so I don't know what that means. Good or bad news? The pharmacist at my Walgreen's told me last week that they are on "allocation shortage." He said what that means is that the manufacturer is shipping product as it becomes available but they are behind due to the problems they've recently had with "incomplete product" or whatever it was Ortho McNeil said the issue was. So, for instance, apparently my Walgreen's usually gets 5 bottles of Elmiron per month. Now, he said they are getting 1 per month and it's "up for grabs" to those of us who are on it. Basically, whoever gets there first, gets it. But when I went in today, the pharmacist on duty said she has another patient that's on elmiron and she heard that it HAS been discontinued. I'm scared and I don't know what the hell to believe at this point.

This is crazy, whoever gets there first. My god. I feel like we have no advocacy for us at all, the doctor's , no one. I spent the whole afternoon and evening just trying to track down 23 pills. I can't be doing this all day every day. I have work etc. And have to go back for the other 22 pills that the one kind pharmacist had to call 9 stores just to get that! The first pharmacist just looked into today, and she already checked all the other stores from her chains/ Walgreens and nothing. She is saying absolutely they can't get it. The first pharmacist called her supply chain today , and her info, is that they are not making it anymore. .

And in you post mentioned above now the delay notice has disappered from the Elmiron site? What does that mean. Seems to me if shipments were going out , they would replace the notice with an update on shipping , not just disappear. Could we get an official statement from anyone? Not just some random pharmacist said the supply problem is solved. ummm yeah not here it isn't.

pj77: I mentioned in a previous post that i think that we should all write a letter to the drug manufacturer and let them know what this shortage has meant to us personally.. and also demand a real update on what it going on, cuz like a lot of you all mentioned there is so much speculation revolving around this issue that i feel no straight answer has really been given. And we really deserve better than this.

I am writing a letter today, and will be mailing certified tomorrow.. so hopefully, i would appeal to anyone else who has the inclination to do so, to please do the ame and write and ask for an answer to our questions.!

I don't think that the drug company really cares one hoot! how it has effected us personaly, but if they get enough letters then maybe we will just get some attention and get it off out chests!

Best of luck to everyone in finding their fair share of the drug...
                              Love you all.
