  • Found on the Interwebs! Urologist's PowerPoint on IC!

If you want to know how urologists talk to each other about IC and how they discuss their theories, check out this well-done power-point presentation by a Chinese urologist (in English). It's wonderfully comprehensive but a little overwhelming if you're not schooled in "medicalese."

    Excerpt:

    Slide 5:Possible pathogenesis of IC

Post-infection autoimmune process Mast cell activation – inflammation, toxin, stress Urothelial dysfunction – increased permeability of urothelium Neurogenic inflammation – K diffusion- mast cell activation – upregulation of sensory fiber – release of neuropeptide (substance P) – neurogenic inflammation – pain in IC

Hmm it looks like I forgot to post the link:

Link deleted by ICNDonna --- the site has a problem.

It's a powerpoint presentation on IC.

Also, JoJo, try posting your info as a "new thread" because right now only people who click on this thread will be able to read it.

The link has a significant problem. It totally froze my computer. That's why I edited it out. If you can find a different route to get there feel free, but please don't post it again.

hmmm it's really strange that the page loads easily on my computer and on several others. It makes me think the problem could perhaps be the result of any number of common computer issues- in this case, specifically, an older operating system, too many programs running, or not having updates to run flash-based media. I say this because if the link or page had a problem, it would've resulted in a non-loading page, not a frozen computer.

Also I wish there was some way I could have been notified of the link's deletion the first time. It's really discouraging and disheartening to excitedly share something on here, only to discover it was deliberately deleted, without a word. I took the time to make this post thinking some people might be appreciative and as interested in a urologist's powerpoint on IC as I was.

I hope it is ok if I give the web address and some google search terms so interested parties can see for themselves if the webpage has a problem.

Any time a post is edited, a message appears at the end of the post, indicating it was edited and the reason.

Thank you for posting the search information --- and I do have an up to date computer, although I'd LOVE to have a new laptop and have been considering it.
