  • Suspicious Emails With Attached Invoices or Bills

Has anyone else noticed, in the past week, a number of new virus/hacking attempts originating from emails from various companies stating that an "invoice" or "statement" is attached? I've received about a dozen or so, and a few came in today claiming to be from ic-network.com.

If you receive any emails from ic-network.com, please note that we do NOT send out invoices by email nor do we include attached files. This is clearly the latest attempt at spreading viruses through attached mails.

To be sure its a scam you can trace the IP address to a country. Usually these things come out Africa or Pakistan. You can also learn their ISP and report them this way.

Tracing an IP address will give you its approximate geographic location, and it's actually pretty easy to do. There are several online IP trackers that allow you to search for an IP address, including WolframAlpha and the Spiceworks IP...

There's guides on how to get their IP address for different mail services like yahoo, etc. It requires you to open the email itself but definitely not the attachment. Many websites let you locate the country and ISP by providing the IP address of the sender.

          • Had symptoms since I was 5
          • Been on forums since '07, knew I had this since then, received mild treatment without true diagnosis due to anxiety. Diagnosed by symptoms on 4/08/11.
          • Had first horrible flare in 07, bad doctors, had to research IC myself to clue in onto what it was. After following the diet I went into remission.
          • Big flare in 09 due to an untreated bladder infection. Went back into remission in 2012.
          • Symptoms returned 4/1/15. All of my remissions have ended in April-May or September-October. It sounds like a connection to seasonal allergies to me..

Currently: Continuous Birth Control, vaginal valium (10/6/11), Elmiron (4/08/11), UTA (4/08/11), continuous Trimethoprim for infections (10/6/11), Heating pad, Benedryl, harsh diet

What I know works: Benedryl, diet, birth control, UTA, valium, ditropan, soma

What didn't work: Elavil, vistaril (12/22)

I just delete these types - I know that I am getting e-mails from people who works in my building (and even my husband) that says it wants something. their addy doesn't have their full address just names so I just delete these.

I had an "alert" from an unknown source yesterday and again today --- identifying themselves as a credit card company. First of all, I don't have a card from that bank; second the email it was addressed to is not one I use for other than one purpose --- and definitely not a credit card company. The message was that I need to contact them about an unauthorized charge to my account.

Be careful! If you get something like that and it looks like it might be legitimate and you have the card, telephone the number on the back of the card.

I get them from banks all the time Donna. Sometimes its the banks that I use but alot of times its not so I delete those right away, the one time that I opened one from my bank it said its was updating my personal information, so I closed that out right away and called the bank, they told me that they never, ever e-mail their customers that they always mail something like that.

If it's MY credit card company, I do contact them - that happened just once, but I used the phone number on the back of my credit card. It was a legitimate email and someone had put $2,000 on my card on Christmas day. I still will follow up anything that's my bank/credit card company, but never use the internet contact info in the email.
