  • Question about IC Optimist email subscription

I'm a little bit bothered by the 96 hour "unlocked" period to access the IC Optimist PDFs. I missed the first issue entirely because I mistakenly assumed the email with the URL link was part of the purchase confirmation (I ordered a few things at one time so had a lot of confirmations coming in). It's my fault for not reading the subject clearly and missed it... and didn't discover the URL until weeks later If we've subscribed and paid $30 for the year why is it locked after 4 days? Shouldn't we be able to have access to the things we've paid for?

I'm going on a trip this summer and won't have computer access for some of the time. I'd hate to miss yet another issue because of this security rule.

Can someone fill me in as to what the security reasons are for a 96 hour "open" period? It's not like the subscribers to the print edition have to return their magazines after 4 days. I just don't get it.

I'm sure this is something Jill can fix. I will forward this to her --- you also might want to send her an email [email protected] to let her know of your problem.

Computers are wonderful things, but occasionally we run into something the computer doesn't understand.

Thanks Donna! I hesitated to even bring this up because I didn't want to come across as whiney. I did email customer service at the time (via the contact link in the ICN shop). I didn't get a reply. I am genuinely concerned about possibly missing the summer issue though.

Very good point and, don't forget, you can always email me personally at: [email protected].

I'll ask tomorrow. Usually it's a short window to prevent people from redownloading it over and over. That said, I'm a huge kindle user and you can download it anytime from them. Let me ask to see if we can implement something similar in our store. I'm really not sure.

Thanks Jill! Is there someone at the store I can contact to get the Spring issue I missed? Or are you able to email links? I'm kindle-less, but have been thinking about investing in one since I travel so much. They seem like they're really handy to have.
