I had a UTI with bacteria and was given antibiotics. I'm done with the antibiotics but I still have some symptoms. Now they are telling me after another urine test that there is no bacteria. Is this IC now? I haven't had a flare in months, but I have never had a IC flare after a UTI.

Can a UTI cause an IC flare?

It could be the aftermath of the UTI --- if the discomfort doesn't disappear soon, I suggest you have another culture done to be certain the infection hasn't returned.

Thank you, Donna for your reply. You are always here for us for support and to answer our questions. Thank you! I am still waiting for the results of my second culture that was taken Sunday when I still had symptoms after being done with antibiotics for a couple of days. I am feeling a little better today. Hopefully I am on the mend. I will keep you posted.

Just received my second urinalysis (from 12/27) and everything is fine, but I have the value of 80 for blood in my urine. Still waiting for culture to come back.
Blood in the urine is not a normal finding. Does this mean the irritation in my bladder is causing this? The first urinalysis 12/18 the value of blood was 200 and LEUK was 500 and NIT was positive.

It's not unusual for someone with IC to have red cells in urine --- I know I almost always do. I don't have cultures done unless it feels like possible infection so I don't know if those cells are there when I'm not flaring. I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you for your kind remarks.

No antibiotics. They said there was not a significant amount of bacteria. They said if it gets worse, go to my GP or urologist.
My symptoms seem to be getting better though. I only have some pressure/pain and a little or no burning in bladder. Not sleeping much though.
Thank you for your concern and help. I will keep you posted.

If it worsens at all, please don't hesitate to give your GP a call. Sometimes even low counts can be a problem for someone with IC.
