      Hi,

I am sorry also for what you are going through and am hoping your flare passes soon.
Like sandra said i do not know what treatments you have done but listen to what she said about the diet etc..
Everything you need to know about IC is right here on the boards and the handbook etc..
If the heating pad doesn't work try something cold or maybe a combo of both.
You can also try some baking soda in your water, always seems to calm down my bladder a bit, doesn't taste great but who the heck cares when your in pain.
It's nice for you to say you will never dismiss your wife's uti's again, but remember IC isn't just a woman's disease. I know lots of men that have it on here and at the support group meetings i go to, they seem so embarrassed, well nothing to be ashamed about, your human like the rest of us and are sick right now. I was reading this article the other day on the ICA about this young boy who was diagnosed with ic at the age of 4 i mean my god 4...that is just cruel.
I hope you find something that will bring you releif,

Will you be having a hydrodistention? If so, recovery time can vary. I feel better within a day or two after a hydro, but it does take a couple of weeks to fully recover. I hope this procedure works for you.

I too would like to say Welcome to the ICN!! You have come to the right place for information, support etc. I too want to stress how important the diet can be. For me in the beginning, that was one of my biggest tools to help manage my symptoms while waiting for my meds to do their thing It's something you can do for yourself - no doc required and you gotta eat anyway!

Hope to see you around the boards!!! Once again welcome and nice to meet you!
                Hugs,

Welcome to the boards. I am so sorry you are hurting. I would say get some Azo Standard and try it. The generic is pyridium. That may help a whole lot or not at all, but it is definitely worth a try! I hope you feel better soon.
