  • OH NO, NOT AGAIN ( My period has just started and I am flaring big time)

After about a week of decent relief from this awful disease I am am completly miserable once again. Above normal period pain and my bladder feels like it is being hit with a hammer. Real bad throbbing pain this time. When I pee my ureathra feels like it being stung by fire ants. I have been peeing about every 20 minutes since about 7pm and it looks it is going to be a very restless night. I am soooooo tired of having to live like this. My pain meds are not working at all. This is utterly ridiculous. I can't ever seem to get any long lasting relief. I feel so hopless. I am about to lose my freaking mind. I HATE IC! I HATE IT! I HATE IT! I HATE IT!

        TexasHoney,
I'm sorry that you're in such horrible pain Have you thought about going on continous birth control? I have personally been on the pill for years and when I was diagnoised w/ IC I realized that I was having horrible flares during my periods. To help w/ this my gyn told me to start taking my normal pills continously and to skip my week of fake pills. If you're not already on the pill then maybe your doctor can put you on one of the ones that is marketed to be taken all the time. Just a thought, I'm still having pain, but that's because nobody has given me any pain meds yet! but at least I don't have to worry about it getting worse during my period anymore. Hope you feel better soon.
        Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)
