  • I'm alive

I didn't go to the ER but finally took my stubborn butt to the uro. Got a shot of abx in the butt, and a bottle of macrobid. He thinks I've got stones up there so if the pain gets worse I'll have no choice but to go to the hospital. I know thats where I should have gone in the first place but I just didn't want to. I have terrible veins, I'm on so many pain meds that I DON'T want to explain, and just really, REALLY didn't want to be admitted. Granted, the doctor wasn't pleased that I didn't want to go, but he consented on the grounds that if I got worse I would go.

I've been bedridden for days now. Just got up and about today and I'm so weak and sweaty. The pain is much better now that I've had the abx. There for a while there weren't enough pain meds on the planet to keep me comfortable.

I think I'm on the mend. Your posts made me sniffle, and I really appreciate that you guys care so much!

I'm sorry I worried you guys, I just couldnt get on here, much less sit up.

Thanks everyone. I'm surprised you guys haven't 'yelled' at me yet for not going to the hospital. I know Tom was SO angry at me...he was just worried and mad that I was so stubborn. I know you guys know what I mean when I say I just didn't want to deal with the nurses and doctors in the ER. I didn't want to explain my pain meds, and I didn't want to be stuck multiple times to get an IV started. I was so miserable all I wanted was my bed. I told my uro all of this too, and being the kind man that he is he gave me my way, for now.

I figured, in my own twisted way, that if the pain got any worse I'd call an ambulance so THEY would start the IV in the truck, (they're great at it!) then I'd go right on back and be admitted and not have to deal with the politics of the ER.

I have to admit that I'm really worn out just from being up a couple hours today and missed my kids swim meet, but there was just no way I could spend a few hours in an 85 degree, humidified room with a ton of other people...

          I'm SUCH a lousy patient!!!!!

Hey Sandy.... great to see you back I'm not going to yell at you for not going to the ER. I never go. Even when I should. Once I waited all weekend to go to my free employee health clinic rather than brave the ER. Once there, I had such a bad bladder/kidney infection, just so many white cells and so much blood, that the doc on duty there made me have a surgical consult because he was afraid something had ruptured (ie, bowel perforation, etc).

Yep, I should have gone to the ER over the weekend. But, like you, explaining would have just worn me out and I didn't want to be admitted either.

I am glad you are on the mend and the antibiotics seem to help. Do go to the ER if things worsen despite the meds though, OK?

So glad you are feeling better!

                Sandy,

I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better today!
I understand about the IV's. I'm a real hard stick. Plus when you are in that much pain, it's so hard to explain the allergies and the medication situation.
I'm at the point too, where if my pain is bad enough, I will call 911. They are very nice when they come into your home territory. Granted that sort of pain level to me doesn't come easily. I hear you!
I hope you continue to improve as the days move forward.

                Well Wishes!

So glad to hear you're going to be okay Sandy. I think we were all worried that we hadn't heard from you in so long. Take it easy and hope you feel better soon.
                    Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Awwww....I'm so sorry you are suffering like that!

I know JUST what you mean about not wanting to go. I can't ever get stuck proper either and yep, the guys in the truck always do it without me knowing it. (butterflies work wonders!)
I never want to leave my kids either especially since I really don't have anyone to watch them. But I sure hope you'll go in if you get any worse.

So do you have a kidney infection along with the stones? Any one of these things (IC, Stones, Nephritis) are bad enough on their own. But all together is enough to ask for a gun.

Hugs from me to you and please get well! Love you lots!
