  • Can't take this much longer

This flare started yesterday and it is just killing me. As I mentioned on another thread I took some Advil w/o my prelief and that threw me into a big flare yesterday. It got so bad that I took my Wygesic which makes me really out of it. I don't like taking it at work because I don't feel like I can talk to my customers when I feel like that. I want to give them the best service I can. So I took my Wygesic yesterday and my boss let me get off the phone, which was really nice. I took another one when I got home and went to bed early. Today I started off okay but as most people, I feel good in the morning and get worse as the day goes on. Within a couple of hours I had the heating pad on again and was upping my water intake to get rid of the burning. Well of course then that made my frequency/urgency go out of control. We had a staff meeting from 2-3. I had to go right before meething, twice during the meething, and once after the meeting! Ugh! After the meeting I was feeling even worse. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday but I really don't know if I have the energy to go back to work tomorrow feeling like this again. Of course we're also supposed to get at least 4 inches of snow tomorrow, so when I get out of work I'll have to clean off my car. I just don't know how much longer I can keep on going to work feeling like crap all the time, but I really don't have another choice. IC SUCKS!!

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I am sorry you are feeling so bad. I hope this flare passes soon for you. Is there any way you can call in tomorrow to give your body a chance to rest? If not, I hope the day goes by quickly and you are able to rest this weekend.

Have you tried the baking soda in water yet? Just a thought. Sometimes it helps me when I am flaring.

One other thing, are sure it is a flare instead of a UTI? I know that for me, it is hard to tell the difference sometimes. If you arent sure, you might want to call the Dr. tomorrow and see if you can drop off a urine sample. After all, if it is an infection, you dont want it to be brewing all weekend.

I hope that this passes soon for you.

        Hugs,
        Amy

yea I agree, you should make sure you don't have a UTI. Try the baking soda or take 3 tums. are you taking any suppliments? I have had some really good success taking these:

          help coat your bladder
*3-4 fish oil (great for hair too)
          *Glucosimine w/ MSM
          *Aloe vera caplets
*UTI prevention w/ frequency and urgency relief- herbal tincture
          *regular excercise/streching (so important)
*stress reduction (soft music w/ streching) I like watching funny movies, laughter can help reduce the flare (will ferrel movies are key for remission)also Dodgeball is hilarious
          * three tums before ify meals
*ice pack to take the edge off flares (heating pad makes them worse for me)
*trying Quercetin soon as I've heard good things
P.S if you like mexican food look for my recipe under- diet and IC (thread) called yummy mexican
Ill pray for you, feel better and
          best wishes,
          Dawn

Thank you all, I don't think it's an infection and I'm on that Macrobid but if I don't feel better I may call anyway. I don't know what I'm going to do about tomorrow. I have already used up all of my sick time and it's only March! My boss knows how bad I've been feeling and I know she wouldn't be mad if I called out, I just feel horrible doing it. I guess I'm going to go to bed soon and see how I feel in the morning. I'm almost hoping the snow starts tonight and my street looks bad in the morning, then I won't feel so bad about calling out, lol

Thanks Cindy and Rhonda I might have to take you up on your offer Cindy. Oh how I wish SSD was an option for me. Shane doesn't work, he stays at home with Griffin and I am the one who works full time. Before we had Griffin he was working part time and I was working full time. Shane has always done factory work and has a really bad work history. With my college degree I can make more money. So right now, I work full time, Shane stays at home with Griffin so we don't have to pay for daycare and his mom lives with us and pays us $100 a week in rent plus we get $100 a week in child support from his ex for all three kids. Maybe I don't need to go on SSD maybe I just need to take his ex to court and get more child support!!! If she paid what the courts would actually want her to pay I could probably work part time!
So I just did call my boss and call out for the day, I feel really bad when I do it but I just told her that I've been in a lot of pain this week, which she knows, that I was almost in tears yesterday morning, which she knows and that I'm just don't have it in me to come in today and then have to worry about leaving with all the snow and the bad roads (the city of Lancaster plows about as well as drunk monkeys). She told me that she really appreciates me coming in when I'm in so much pain and she understands. So I think I have to get the hubby up and we have to run out to the store before the roads get bad, there's some sleet now because we are almost out of everything in the house.

GriffsMommy, I feel for you. Try to rest today and try all the other gals' suggestions for relief. I find a long footrub from my husband works wonders!

Those of us who have to work understand. It sucks struggling thru each day. All you can do is keep trying treatments and read the "success" stories...one day we will be one of those successes, I am sure of it!

Ouch, I know how you feel. I have been hurting for about 5 weeks straight. My dr really encourages me to take the pain meds before the pains gets to bad. I know it makes it hard to function but maybe you can take more at night. I also use urised these days. But jut let me add: I was in total remission for 12 years before this current flare. Remissions do happen and you will fine relief!!

I know I can take the pain meds but they make me so out of it at work and I don't feel that it's right to my members. These are retired people that are calling me about their health insurance. Half the time they are confused, I don't need to be confused too, LOL. I'm hoping that after I go back to my uro 4/10 then he'll do the hydro and we can work on getting better pain managment that actually gets rid of more of the pain w/o so much of the loopy side effects. It just seems like waiting to go back to the uro until 4/10 is going to be the longest three weeks of my life.
