  • 7th day of discomfort

Woke up this morning feeling discomfort/urgency again. Went to the bathroom and sure enough, I came out burning and I am burning SO much right now. I also feel a sharp pain in my bladder area; it almost feels external like a bruise.
I noticed a mouth ulcer a few days back; I feel like my body is extremely acidic right now which is causing the flare. I don't know what to do; this is the 7th day I have woken up feeling like this and heat usually helps a lot so does a baking soda bath but both have not been much help this week. Really in need of and a miracle!

Have you been checked to be sure you don't have an infection working? It does sound like a possibility.

Sorry that you're feeling so horrible. Donna is right, whenever a flare is lasting for awhile you should do a culture to make sure it's not an infection, mine never are but lots of other people seem to get them. If not try AZO or the prescription stuff to help with burning maybe. I also drink a ton of water when I'm burning, I picture it like a fire in my bladder that I'm trying to put out with as much water as possible. Hope that you feel better soon.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I guess I would see your doctor just to make sure you dont have an infection. But as far as flares, I dont seem to get those, I am always in pain all the time no matter what I do regardless of following the IC diet.
Am I the only one who has pain continulously? Is that normal with IC, or am I suppose to have good days too? I never have good days anymore.
I always feel like I have an infection it seems, which is bad because I have a hard time distinguishing when I have one, that is until it is so bad I am in that much pain. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

I still don't feel great. I started the mild antibiotics for three days and I was doing fine and as soon as I stopped, I'm back to feeling horrible Yesterday it could have been a number of things; I was on the road for 5 hours for a training and then I used toilet tissue thinking I feel fine and it'll be okay; I didn't start burning until later at night though so again, trying to figure out what the triggers are can be so frustrating!

Try a frozen water bottle between you legs if you can, that helps me with the burning feeling, or it could be it just freezes things down there ha ha. Hope you are feeling better soon. I was in a terrible flare last week, just knew I had infection, no, just the ugle IC rearing its ugly head.

                Hi there,

Three days is too short to be a full course of antibiotics. Did you stop taking them because you felt better? If so, you need to go to your doctor and tell him that and he'll probably have to put you on a different med because if you don't take the full course of antibiotics then the bacteria develops a resistance to that particular antibiotic and you have to start all over.

                Hoping you feel better soon,

It isn't a course really; I was given a lower dose of antibiotics to take preventatively and also if I'm experiencing a flare to reduce the chances of an infection. She told me I don't have to necc. take it for a certain period of time; between 3-5 days depending on how I'm feeling. I know I should have taken it for a few more days. But praise God, I am feeling MUCH better these last few days and am truly truly grateful to all of you for being so supportive and responsive.

                  Happy Easter!

I have had something similar going on the past week. It started suddenly Thursday morning with the burning you are talking about it and I have been in pain ever since. I also feel like everything is acidic because my IBS is acting up too. I use the acid test strips and according to them my urine ph is okay. I'm very discouraged right now also. Hang in there.

I just wanted to stop by and say thank you once again for all your support ladies. I have been feeling really good for the last 9 days praise God! I stopped eating activia yoghurt or drinking the danactive yoghurt drink; I think that is what has helped tremendously. Again, I truly thank God for healing! I pray that each and every one of you can gain some relief and comfort from your pain. Many blessings!

Oh yeah, yogurt will get me every time. I can't even eat it when I'm in a remission and can eat everything else. Glad you're feeling better!
