I would guess being on an antibiotic so long is what caused the yeast infection in the first place. Again, I can't take antibiotics at all w/o getting one....

I've only had one yeast infection, which was last December, and it did make my IC symptoms worse.
The infection caused my entire area there to burn and turn red so it was irritating my urethra as well, making it painful to urinate therefore causing spasms

thanks for some imput - the ER doctor had no idea, but when I went to my specialist today she tested me to see what kind of yeast since it has been getting worse and worse - I was on antibiotics for about 2 montsh when I had my interstim removed due to infection ( I am supposed to get a new one in two weeks). It's hard to know what came first - and I always want to track down what caused a flare but it seems sometimes I can't figure it out. I know it isn't always my "fault" but I want to be able to control it --- maybe it's just tiome to stop being a control freak and let God control it. Just seems that it can be triggered by sooo many things!

Mine frequently occur together. Although, usually the flare comes first for me. Generally I start treating for a yeast infection almost as soon as I get a flare. (not with the over the counter stuff, just with yogurt because I tolerate yogurt) I can only speak for myself though.

I always used to flare up when I had a yeast infection. They can definitely trigger our IC.

I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully getting the yeast cleared up will help your IC symptoms.

    Yeast Infection and flare??

I was in the ER a couple night ago with a horrible flair - I had to be carried in and passed out several times on the way there. I do have severe IC. I am wondering if the fact that I have a pretty bad vaginal yeast infection could have anything to do with that? Do any of you notice a correlation between the two? Flares like that are incredible and hard to believe 0 I've had a lot of pain with endometriosis and stuff (lots of sergeries) but this pain pretty much tops it. Any advise would be great. They are doing a culture to find out what kind of yeast i have.

    thanks!
