  • Got careless

My IC was doing okay. I was just dealing with horrible non-stop symptoms from my PFD. Suddenly today, I get urethral/bladder pain - the kind when it feels like your urethra is being tied in a bow. Thought back and I've been eating chocolate, pop, caffeine, alcohol etc. etc. ...I think the combo of everything flared me big time. Just hope it doesn't take as long as last time - 8 months - to get things settled down. Sheesh...thanks for listening..

Ouch! That stinks. I am not overly diet sensitive so sometimes I do the same thing, have way to many bad foods and I pay for it. Yesterday they were selling chili at work and I haven't had chili since I was diagnoised. It smelled sooo good. I went ahead and bought a bowl but my bladder wasn't very happy about it. I hope this flare doesn't last too long for you.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Sometimes drinking some extra water and either taking some baking soda in water or (what I do) take some Tums will help undo a diet-caused flare. I think we all do it once in a while. I hope your flare doesn't last long.

      Hugs,
      Donna
