I am in a terrible flare and it doesn't seem that taking foods away is helping. I have eliminated everything that could be the problem, but still in terrible pain. Normalling taking prelief really helps, but not this time. Has anyone ever had this happen. I have only had one bladder infection in my life, so I don't think it is that. How long does it take for you all to get over big-time flares?

Melissa,
I am sorry you are having a tough time. It never hurts to checked for infection if this is something different. I have had flares last a week or two sometimes longer.
Flares can be triggered by lots of things. Food for one, which it sounds like you are watching, things we drink, hormones and stess are biggies for me too. It could be helpful if you aren't doing it to start a food diary with everything you eat and drink. Then if by some chance you see something it might be easier to figure out what is bothering you.
Use what works for you to help you with your flare. For me the heating pads and stick on heat wraps are essential.
I think it would be worth your time if you don't want to go to the Dr. to at least maybe think about one of the home test kits to check for infection. I know the one time I had an infection, my IC was a nightmare. Good Luck to you and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Melissa, sorry you are going through a bad time right now with your flare. Mine vary, one has lasted three weeks, and others maybe a couple of days, seems to vary quite a bit with me. I am on HRT, and sometimes they seem to hit, when it is time to change my patch, so I think it can be hormonal for me at times. Hope your start to let up on you soon, soft hugs Iris. grouphugToday and every day you are loved, so don't be anxious about tomorrow, God will take care of you tomorrow; Live one day at a time.

sorry u are in so much pain. Yes I have had that happen....no reason....nothing like calcium or diet helps....just lots of pain. Mine last around 3-7 days when they are like that but some people are different.
Good luck on getting relief and having a short short flare instead of long.Faith, Hope, and Love,

This flare just keeps getting worse and worse. I have been eating only plain foods, so last night I had a chicken breast. I flared worse than EVER!!! I am wondering if I am becoming sensitive to the hormones in meat and eggs. ( I should post this in diet), i am thinking of going to a place to get organic meats without hormones. We will see!!! grouphug Melissa

worst flare ever!
I am in what I guess you all would refer to as a flare. I am interested that you all say it lasts days or weeks. Mine last weeks to months!!! My doctor is suggesting a hydrodistention and the pain MD recommends a caudal block with marcaine and steroids. Any ideas out there for how these did or didnt' work for other people? I have not signed onto this site for some time, finally got the password fixed. Pls give me your ideas. I am on alot of pain medicine and off work due to severe pain. Lost wt, and that is bad since I am down to 88 lbs.! (normally would have been 98). Also, what is everyone's experience with applying for disability? SSDI? Thanks and good luck to everyone!Kelly Anne

worst flare ever!
I am not sure if all the answers to "worst flare ever". It may have been to Melissa and not to me. I am so very tired of this whole thing. The pain is unbearable most of the time and I have altered my foods so much to where I hardly eat anything besides bland foods. Are strawberries bad? I know that everyone is different as to what makes them flare.. some are not food sensitive while others have no food sensitivity.
What about a caudal ? has anyone had that? or what about hydrodistentions? I know the hydro's can cause misery, my uro is suggesting this and I cannot imagine being in more pain with no sure shot that it will help. It sounds rather barbaric., doesn't it?
Is there an online time this month for the "chat online ICN time?"
Thanks, ladies. Hope all of you feel better soon .............

flare
melissa.
sometimes there are hidden triggers in the food we eat that we arent aware of, like msg, and ranch dressing , vinegar and tomatoes really bother me , msg and citric acid are in everything.usually when i flare ive over looked what i ate and can usually go back and find the trigger, so many spices are bad too , hope you feel better soon
