  • Newbie having a flare AT WORK!!!

Owww... suddenly I think I am flaring!! Lots of back pain, and I swear I can literally FEEL my bladder sitting in my abdomen!! It feels swollen and throbs/spasms when I move. Add all this to the fact that suddenly I have a constant, urgent need to pee (even though when I try only dribbles come out, and these dribbles feel "hot" and irritate my urethra..no burning, not like a UTI, but just irritating). I have been to the bathroom 4 or 5 times in the last half hour. I even feel nauseated because the feeling in my abdomen is so intense. I am one miserable newbie

It is worse because I am at work and can't just curl up in a ball and hide from the world like I want to...

I took a Urised (the only med I have right now until my next uro appt on Feb 16) hoping the analgesic/antispasmodic will help. For the back pain I took some ibuprofen and am using one of those BodiHeat patches (my husband made me take it to work today to keep in my desk in case... I am SOOO glad he did). And I am working on a big bottle of water as I type.

Arrgh... any ideas on how to make it go away fast???

I am trying to figure out what on Earth I ate yesterday that could have caused it... it is either food or the fact that my husband and I attempted sex last night (it was nice but I really hurt after for several hours). banghead

Sorry you're flaring right now. I wish I could tell you how to stop it, but I don't know how to get rid of my flares. Good luck today and hope it goes away soon. You will be in my prays. Stress can make it worse.
    Love,

      Hi,
Sorry you are having a rough day. You are doing the things I would have suggested to help you through the flare. You may still want to make sure you don't have an UTI if the pain continues. Sorry to say it is possible the sex last night might be contributing to this. Sometimes that does happen.
Take care and be sure to follow-up with your Dr. if this pain continues.

Thanks for the replies! I am feeling better now... the Urised and ibuprofen seem to have taken away a lot of the urgency, etc, and my back is feeling better (still a bit sore, but I'm functional) Thanks for listening to me vent during that flare I hate this disease already....

I just had a urine culture done on Monday as part of my uro visit, and they called today and said it was negative again... I suppose a pretty virulent infection could crop up in a few days, I could call and see if I should come back in or not. Although I do feel much better now, no burning when I pee or anything. Just the usual dull pain way down low in my back near where my bladder would be...

It is not unusual for me with a bad flare to have some lingering, dull pain after the worst of the flare is over. You are the best judge as to whether you think you should call your Dr., just see how you feel.

Well, I am feeling much better today... just my normal frequency/urgency issues. However, my period is supposed to start today, so that may be contributing to everything (in addition to having sex the other day). However, I'm grateful the flare didn't last too too long!!!
