You can always tell when it's bad, because that's when I find my way back here. If I"m good, I never think about looking here.

Mine used to last a couple of days for bad pain, but during the past 2 years, they sometimes come for 2-4 months. Then I resort to a strict IC diet, pain pills and heating pads. Then one day, it seems to magically disappear for a few weeks. I treasure those times.

Mine used to last a couple of days, but now I've been in one for 4 months, so I'm not sure what normal is.

    Hope you feel better.

My IC flare returned after the birth of my daughter on 6/30/09. I have been in pain off and on. I have only had a few good weeks out of this almost 2 year period. Before the birth I was in remission for 5-6 years. I am not sure what brought this on other than having the baby, c-section, or the strep b found in the urine after birth. I still don't know why mine happens.. It sucks... I know that much.. I am constantly going to the bathroom. I have not been told that I have PFD.

Mine generally appear about 20 minutes after I eat or drink something that doesn't agree with my bladder, and pass in about 4-6 hours. I know... I'm incredibly lucky. It's made it super easy to figure out what I can and can't eat!

Mine too pass within a day or two though I have been generally worse for a few months at a time which finally seems to be passed. Mostly if I eat something or drink something that makes me flare I'll feel it for 24-48 hours.

Agreed. And even flares themselves with the same person can be different. My diet flares typically pass within 24 hours but my stress flares have gone on for weeks & weeks.

I hope it gets better for you! 8 months is a long time to flare!

Hmm, flares can last a variety of time. I can see how child birth and the stress of change could cause a flare.

Are you following the IC diet? Also drinking plenty of water can help. If your flare is causing alot of bladder pain and burning, it can help to drink about 1/4 tsp of baking soda in a glass of water. Only do this if you don't have any blood pressure problems though. It tastes awful but it can help.

It might help if you describe some of the symptoms of your flare, that way we can give you some ideas that might be of help.

    Wishing you pain free days,

    Sandra

So, I had my son 8 months ago, and I have pretty much been in a flare since. Either that or my IC has gotten really bad. Ive done everything and not even a cystoscope helped.
Working...
