Does anyone ever wish they could educate nurse's on IC? I was in the hospital with chest pain that was probably brought on by low potassium. They gave me potassium pills and potassium through my IV. I had a horrible flare from it, but the doctor said he couldn't give me anything. I didn't even mention an instill because I knew that they wouldn't know anything about it. I hurt all night long. I couldn't ask for better care from the nurse's. It is not their fault they are uneducated about IC. They didn't even know what Elmiron was. They did get it for me. Has anyone else flared from potassium? I am thinking about filling out the opinion questionnaire when it comes in the mail about my stay, but want to make sure it doesn't sound like they didn't take good care of me because they did.

Potassium ingested isn't the same as putting potassium directly into the bladder. I had to take a potassium supplement for a long time and no flares from it.
And a potassium deficiency can be serious.
