  • So much pain I want to scream!

I've been doing so well up until about a month ago when I started having trouble at work, stress of failing and re-taking the CPA exam, I forgot about the IC diet and slipped into old habits = lots of diet coke to make it through the day, fast food daily, etc. I got "laid off" yesterday and today it all came down on me.

I'm in terrible flare - could be a UTI as well because I'm very cold even though it's 90F outside and my whole body aches. Gonna start Cipro 250 mg tonight and see if that helps. Only took 1/4 Vicodin because I take so many other meds I'm always afraid that something bad will happen.....with my luck some adverse reaction or something.

Anyway, I've learned my lesson....IC never really goes away. It's like a bad guest that won't leave so you have to find ways to deal with "him"

I'm very sorry you're in a flare. Stress can be such a bad trigger, and I don't even want to THINK about what Diet Coke would do to my bladder!! (Although man, I loved it so much before diagnosis, and miss it!)

I hope you feel better very soon.
    Symtoms started July 2010.

Yes, after being on Cipro for two days the infection has cleared up and my IC has calmed down a bit. I've been drinking 2 liters of marshmallow root tea every day and being really strict about what I eat etc. Kind of miss the Diet Coke but I'll get used to it Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I haven't had a diet (or regular) Coke in 8 years. Now it just smells like chemicals to me.
I spilled one on the floor once. It ate away the floor wax & left a huge bleached spot in the center of the floor. My mom & I ended up spraying the entire floor with Coke & mopping it up---it dissolved not only the dirt but the thick layer of wax a bad housekeeper kept putting on top of it. Worked great! Now I can't believe I used to drink the stuff!
