  • Can Kegel exercises cause a flare?

I haven't had a flare for 5 years. Recently, I started doing Kegel exercises. I believe I have a flare now. Not sure if this is a flare. My bladder doesn't really hurt, but all the pelvic muscles surrounding the area do! When I am sitting still or laying down/sleeping, I have no discomfort. It is only when I move. My previous flares were food only induced and my bladder really felt it!! Could Kegel's have caused this? I also have excersised on a regular basis ( walking, aerobics, tennis) and have never had an issue. Any comments that may help me? I shudder to think that I am regressing with this God awful illness... thanks!

I know I can't do kegels even when I'm feeling good. It will cause pain every time --- I gave up trying them years ago.

        Just wondering....

I was curious as to what you mean exactly by a flare because I had NO incontinence after the first few weeks of my symptoms of IC beginning, I haven't urinated on myself in over a montha dn then all of a sudden after my exam for a second opinion with a urogyno on Tuesday, in which she did a catheter and made me do two sets of kegels AS HARD as I could, I resumed incontinence. I can't stop crying about it I feel sprained down there. Just curious if this could happen from your opinion?
