It does sound like you may need to see your doctor.

I'm sorry you are having a rough day. Sounds like its time to talk to your doctor (after all they are in the customer service biz too) and if things don't improve time for a new doc.

The best pain med I was for flares was Darvocet. Which of course has been pulled by the FDA. I now take Tramodol as needed for pain. It's not nearly as effective as Darvocet, but it's something.

I cannot take Pyridium because I am allergic to it. The not breathing type of allergy. HUGS

    Some People Do Not Listen!

I'm going on a 3 month flare now. I have been diagnosed with severe pelvic floor dysfunction, its tilting my pelvis off, on top of my IC. I am in physical therapy twice a week now. We added Atarax, Zyrtec and Zanaflex to the meds I was alreading taking. Nothing seems to be helping yet. I called my doctor's office today to tell them I have run out of the Atarax and the Ultram. They call back and say oh well, we are going to call you in a prescription for Pyridium. I have already told them Pyridium exacerbates my IC. It causes severe perineum pain, pressure and burning. Weird, right? The nurse insisted I try it! I said look, I am a nurse as well, I will try it one more time just to be sure it wasn't a fluke but if my symptoms persist I'm calling in the morning. The nurse said we also want you to try taking 1/2 a tsp of baking soda in a glass of water. I stopped her there and said, I already do that every morning, as needed and at night. It is the only thing that works. I swear they just don't listen sometimes. Then she suggested I take tylenol. I cannot fathom how that would work if stronger prescription meds did not control the pain. So I took the pyridium, sure enough a few hours later and the horrible symptoms were back. I feel as though I cannot win! I feel like they think I'm making it up or I'm drug seeking and that is simply not the case. I'm having an off day and they are not helping. They will be getting a phone call in the morning.
