I take Relpax for my migraines and it doesnt bother my bladder. It does make me urinate a little more but no pain or burning.

    Hi Toto,

I feel for you since I suffer from migraines and IC. It's interesting that both conditions started at the same time -- in summer 1998. Fortunately when I get a migraine I take Treximet. Have you tried Treximet? It's a miracle migraine killer with no side effects to IC or anything else.

It doesn't surprise me that the Depakote has an effect on IC. I notice my IC symptoms coincide very often with my migraines.

I do hope you feel well soon. Good luck with everything.

Thanks very much for looking this up, Donna. I had no idea that Depakote had this side benefit. I'll discuss this with my Dr. next week.

I'm going to go back on Depakote today until the fertility treatments start in a couple weeks.

I did a quick search on depakote and it sounds like it does help relax some of the nerves so it might, as a side benefit, help with IC symptoms. I think it would be a good idea to discuss this with your doctor.

My first terrible flare in years -- what to do?

    Hi,

I'd like to give some backstory. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and are going on fertility treatments in a couple of weeks. I've been taking Enablex 7.5mg for 3 years and it controls my pain very well -- so well that my bladder feels normal. I also take Depakote for migraines, but my neurologist told me that if I'm trying for a pregnancy I had to go off Depakote right away. I weaned myself completely off Depakote and then out of nowhere my frequency and pain came back with a vengance. I upped my Enablex to 15mg but can't tolerate the stomach cramps this dosage gives me.

I'm seeing my urologist next week to figure out what's going on and come up with other treatment options. But I'm puzzled -- can Depakote really help IC symptoms? Until I see my Dr. I'm going to take a dose of Enablex in between 7.5mg and 15mg.

Any feedback would be a much appreciated. TIA!
