I was able to go to work but am still experiencing some discomfort. Same thing happened during the fall the last few years. I hope I'm not just allergic to fall, because it is my favorite season. Thanks for checking in!

Hi Jessica
Just wondering how you made out. Did you end up going into work? I hope you are feeling better now!

I would try what you said you were going to try, when I have things I have to do with a flare, I too drink lots of water, you have to pee more often but the urine burns less.
I also find OTC AZO really helps me, it numbs the bladder.
As far as taking pain meds and waking up, you need to try these on a weekend so you know what to expect, as well as any other meds you are on or want to try, try them on your days off.
Lots of pain meds wear off after 6-8 hours depending on if you are on short acting or long acting, if short acting you should be able to take at night and still be clear headed in the am and get up.
Good luck MG

I hope you can get some sleep so you will feel better in the morning. Since you're concerned about waking up, I will share a wake-up method I used in the "olden" days when I was young. I would turn a pie tin upside down, set my alarm clock on it, and push it under the bed far enough so I would have to get up to reach it! It definitely worked for me.

When I can't stay home and I'm in a bad flare, I usually try to drink alot of water that day so my urine isn't as acidic when I do go pee. I also take valiums, tramadols or lortabs depending on the severity. If they make you loopy though, maybe that isn't a good idea.
The best advice about this I can say to you is to know your limitations and if the pain is too much, just don't go. Nothing is more important than your health.
Good luck,
Molly

Hi Jessica
I'm so sorry to hear you are in a flare. I know when I have something I have to do the next day and I'm not feeling well I become anxious and everything becomes worse. Sitting on the heating pad, relaxing and a good night sleep may just do the trick. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I have a lot on my plate too and I'm just hoping to get through the day.

flare and have to go to work tomorrow
Hey all,
I seem to be in a flare tonight and have to go to work tomorrow and don't know what to do. I am a behavioral therapist and assist a child in attending a mainstream classroom. If I cannot go to work he cannot go to school and I already almost missed work last Friday but pulled through. I guess I am just panicking because I really don't want to miss work. I am so afraid of being let go. I am hoping that if I knock myself out somehow I will wake up and it will go away. I have taken a uribel and xanax to try and calm it down and am sitting on a heating pad at the moment. I don't want to resort to a painkiller because I am afraid it will knock me out too bad and I won't be able to wake up in time. I guess I just need support. Thank you all for helping.
