I agree with that --- but when I just have to sit in a warm tub, I shower first.

I'm so sorry you are in a flare. I haven't taken a tub bath for a long time --- I stick with taking showers. That washes away the soap residue, plus there isn't the possibility of liquids making their way into the urethra and causing irritation. I know that some find tub baths soothing --- you might want to try adding Epsom salts instead of perfumy things.

    Warm hugs,

Mel. You certainly sound like you've been through a lot over the past few months and I'm sorry you got a virus on top of it all.
Just that in itself is a buzzkill. I hate coughing as it strains my pelvic floor and gives me horrible migraines. I'm sorry.
I'm glad you are slowly healing from the hernia surgery. If you have nerve pain that only hurts to touch, that is a relief to hear. I know exactly what you are talking about. Our bodies get super sensitive from all of the pain we endure over the years.
And I have learned that nerves can take many months or years to heal and feel better. It's a long road but you seem very positive.
It's a shame your little bladder doesn't like too much water. That's annoying as that feeling of constantly having to go is draining. Lol. I try to drink a lot and hold it as much as I can to stretch it out but when I'm a flare that is nearly impossible to do. And the nerves involving the bladder and urethral area are so sensitive and painful when irritated. I think your idea of little sips throughout the day make more sense for you since the hernia surgery has probably tightened up the pelvic floor and it needs to recover.
Keep us posted and thanks for answering my post. I need to respond to that too. Songbird

    Hi Songbird,

I'm feeling better from the hernia surgery but still have a way to go. The seroma is still there near my belly button and tender. When I move a certain way it causes pain....but tolerable. I also have some sort of nerve pain in the groin area...but only when i touch it. It seems to be near the edge of the mesh. I hope with time it will get better. I am not due for a surgical check up for a while....unless of course I feel the need to go sooner.
My bladder has been pretty angry at me and being sick with this virus has probably made it worse. I went to the doctor friday because this damn bug was not going away and I was feeling awful at the 8 day mark. He said to give it at least 10 days to start to feel better and to just rest, drink more fluids and the other usual stuff for the body aches and pain. So, I drank more water and it made my bladder very angry! I just can't handle all that water! It stretches my delicate little bladder too much and causes such pain! Needless to say I was up a few times during the night as well and had so much pain after voiding. Yesterday, I hardly drank any water. I needed to give my bladder a chance to rest. Today is better but I still needed to take a pain pill with tylenol and slowly sipped water throughout the day. I'll see how i feel tomorrow but am thinking of going in for an instillation to soothe the inside of my bladder.
I am definately not doing the bubble baths and have been taking hot showers instead! It also helped my head to decongest. It's not easy dealing with colds, viruses, migraines, etc when you have IC. Everything sets it off and then it takes forever to calm down. I feel like I am always trying to figure it out. Medications also irritate. Everything seems to revolve around the bladder!
Oh well, I read your post and want to comment to that on that thread.
    Wishing you well,
    Mel

    Mel,

How are you feeling since the surgery and besides the dumb bubble bath???
Epsom salts are too harsh for me.
It's sooo frustrating isn't it? Gosh. I'm dealing with the same thing now. Irritation from sex- well trying to have sex. Bogus area to suffer pain.

    Bubble bath flare?

I took a bath tonight and added a little bubble bath and now am in such pain. At first I was trying to figure out what I ate or drank. My diet was good today and only drank my safe water.....so no problem there. Grilled chicken no spices just a little oliven oil and salt. Salad only olive oil and little salt and half baked sweet potato. All my "go to" safe foods. Bladder was not hurting before dinner.
A little after my bath I had burning which escalated to bladder pain. I used my squirt bottle to rinse myself but it was already too late. So, now I'm on the couch with a hot water bottle on my belly and took something for the pain.
In thinking back, the same thing happened about 2 weeks ago and also right before that. Just about the same time I bought this new bath/shower cream. When I use it in the shower with a sponge...no problem. It's too coincidental not to think it's the shower cream in the bath......ughhh ...I was trying so hard and then messed things up with this!
Back to basics.....just water from now on in the tub!
Weird but at other times I was able to use a bubble bath and not react. It just seems like it's this particular brand that i bough last month.
    The wonders of IC 😡
Anyone else have problems with bubble baths?
