  • " My IC " sounds like........

I noticed that most of us here somehow .......I don't know how to describe this......but by saying " my IC " referring to this disease doesn't give me a good vibes. I don't like owning this disease ,I like to shrug it of off me if possible. I try to describe it as this disease. I don't like owning it like my bladder,my kidneys,my car...Owning it seems to have a permanent impact that it will neve r go away.

Another annoying thought.Be careful with the power of words.

Hey! I think your on the right track! I don't like the thought of having something like IC be forever. I like to think it will go away, and I do think that it will!

The truth is, that since I can't work a regular everyday 9 to 5 job, I've had so much more time to focus on things I've always wanted. I've been able to further my writing career, and I'm close to starting my own business. I'm able to do career things I my own terms instead of doing stuff for a boss who never understands IC.

I'm even planning a vacation for next Oct.

    Anything is possible! Stay motivated!

      Hi Oceana:
Sometimes I say "my IC" simply because I take responsibility (as opposed to "ownership") for my coping and wellness. It is unfortunate that there is no known cause and cure for IC, so therefore I am committed to the realization that I may have this disease for a very long time.

When referring to it as my IC, it is simply a reflection of my acceptance that I have an incurable disease that will hopefully be cured in the very near future.

Well I think most of us say "MY IC" because many of us describe the uniqueness each of us have with this disease. We all don't respond to the same thing. If you don't feel comfortable saying "My IC"...then don't.

If you have a problem with me saying "My IC", oh well....don't know what to tell you.
Somewhere there's a reason /Why things go like they do /Somewhere there's a reason /Why some things just fall through /We don't always see them /For what they really are /But I know there's a reason /Just can't see it from this far /Maybe I don't like it, /But I have no choice /I know that somewhere, /Someone hears my voice / I thought I knew it all /I thought I had it made /How could it end this way? /I thought I knew Somewhere there's a reason /Why things don't go my way /Somewhere there's a reason /That I cannot explain /Just like the change of season, /Just may not be my turn /But I know there's a reason, /The lesson's mine to learn

          Yvette,

I did not intend to tell anyone that I have a problem with anybody saying this & that e.g.
"MY IC" . To clarify my intention here is only an information on my part, not to dictate nor convince anyone to agree with me. Did I say we should? I said in my post it doesn't give me,ME,myself a good vibes. That is how I perceived it when I say it. I am only speakiing for myself. I post in this board only for sharing my opinion but not to agree or disagree with anyone. And I presumed that this is why this board is up ,for us to share our views, parallel or not. I respect it......

          I apologize for the confusion.
