Who am I? Why am I here and what is my purpose in this world?
These are all questions each of us have asked, either silently or screaming as loudly as possible.
The answers are simple: I am Me; Myself. I am the one and only ME that ever has been or ever will be.
I’m here to do something that no one else can do. Something so important that, even though others may assist me, only I was assigned this special task, and only I can succeed in its accomplishment. My purpose in this world, that special task I’ve been assigned, is to be me. Not just a ‘get by’ kind of me. Not a ‘let someone else do it’ kind of me. Not a ‘who cares anyway’ kind of me. My reason for being is to be the very best me I can possibly be. I will touch the lives of countless others during my lifetime. Each of those people will draw something from me, from my example, that will help them reach their destiny. I must not let them, or myself, down. I must not lead them in the wrong direction. Therefore, I must be the best me that I’m able to be. That’s My job. My purpose. My reason for being.
I need not surpass, equal, or even come close to the accomplishments of others. All I need to do is what I CAN do. All I need to do is the VERY BEST I CAN. All I need to do is TRY. I don’t need to impress anyone. But in knowing I’ve done my best, I impress myself. There is no greater reward than knowing, and appreciating one’s own accomplishments.
Friends, try to erase from your mind any thoughts of inabilities. Lay to rest all those “I used to...” , “Before all this happened, I could….” ways of thinking. Instead concentrate on the ABILITIES you have TODAY. If all you’re able to do today is get out of bed long enough to use the bathroom, consider that an accomplishment. There are many who can, but will not try, to get out of bed. If all you’re able to do is watch your children play without joining them in the fun, consider that a blessing. How many children have no adults in their lives who care enough to share their time. Time is probably the most precious gift you can give. It cannot be bought, it cannot be saved for later use, it cannot be repeated. Sharing your time with others is part of your purpose; something only you can give. That’s definitely something you’re ABLE to do.
Work according to your abilities. If being unable to hold a full time job is filling your life with frustration, try part time work. If that’s still beyond your abilities, try to simplify your lifestyle. Treasure the things you do have and be grateful for them. Realize that your NEEDS are easy to obtain, and they‘re far less expensive that your WANTS. Having what you NEED brings happiness. WANTS, on the other hand, are really nothing more than clutter. When I look around my house at all the things I have that once were WANTS, I see things that need dusting. By simplifying your life, by putting more priority on your needs, you’ll soon find that long hours and huge incomes just aren’t worth it. If you need to work to cover your needs, then by all means work. But if you’re working because you think you need what you want, it’s time to re-think.
Always try. Do all that you can, to the best of your abilities. Lend a helping hand. Offer a kind word. Share a smile. Expect nothing in return. Those are the most important steps toward fulfilling your purpose in this world; your pathway to being the most successful YOU this world has ever seen.
Just sharing my thoughts.
