Greetings and Happy New Year!

I've had IC for over 2 years now. In the beginning I couldn't stand it, but the truth is some very happy things have happened for me that I might have missed out on if I didn't have IC.

One of the major things to improve has been my writing career. Before IC I'd try to submit pieces of writing whenever I had the time. Between working and everything I didn't have much time to work on it consistently.

Since IC I had to slow down and couldn't hold a regular job but I've had all the time I've ever dreamed of to write. Since IC I've had more poems published, some recipe articles published and now I have my first cookbook coming out soon. Without IC who knows when or if these things would have occured!

No matter how severe your IC is I hope you can find a way to reach an important goal for yourself. By dealing with an illiness we really gain strength. We are invincible! And we are pretty cool too!

Take care! Have a great 2003!

Peggy there are alot of books out on writing, check your local book store or you can go to qpb.com (Quality Paperback Book Club) You have to click on 'join today' to get into it even if you aren't going to join. There are 16 selections on writing, including Writer's Handbook 2003. Some of them have addresses of publishers, etc. Good Luck Lyn

          Hi Peggy!

Each year a new addition of a book called Poet's Market comes out. You can find this in your bookstores section of books on writing. Barnes and Noble usually has it on hand, smaller stores would probably have to order it for you.

I've bought that book for about the past 5 years, and always find places that publish my poetry through it.

Start off by sending your work to magazines who welcome and encourages new writers to send their work in. They usually never pay, but it is a way for you to develop a writing resume. Later try sending to other places that require more experienced writers. Many of these places do pay and/or send you copies of the magazine your work is to appear in.

Being a published writer is so much fun, but it does take time. When I started off I'd get about 1 poem published for every 30 places I sent stuff to. It slowly increased from there. It's a lot of hit and miss, but if you continue to send stuff out on a regular basis you will get published.

Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any more writing questions.

Good luck, have fun, keep at it!

          Veronica
