  • What pain meds work for IC?

I was on methodone 5mg 1 to 4 times a day but my pain docs do not feel it is safe anymore but that was the one med that helped. When my syptoms were mild I used Tramadol/Ultram but it took soo much to keep things under control so that was when we went to methadone after trying many others. They put me on vicodine and I hate it it does not work and makes me agatated, I was on diluaden after surgery that worked great no sleepyness either??? But, I guess you can't stay on that? ugh I am so frustrated and my pain docs do not even think that pain meds work for IC but since i have pelvic and back pain they write them I am so frustrated just had my galbladder out and now I just want to ge back to being normal but i can not do that until I find a pain med to replace the methadone? HELP!

    Hi Guys,
I don't post very often, but i have a huge question and i'm not sure what to do. i am one of the lucky people who are being able to be seen bt dr. brookoff in Denver. God, he is great. Anyway my problem is that they put me on the MS Contin and Prercocet regimen and I'm not really sure how to work it to its best potential. My scrip is for for MS-CONTIN 40 mg 3 times a day, and up to 6 percocet per day for breakthrough pain. Any suggestions on how to use this It is working but I think I could be doing it better, and not sure even of which questions to ask about it for sure. So if someone has been on this regimen and make a suggestion I would really appreciate it, almost as much as having a great DR who believes in great medicine.

    Thanks for the help.

I'm so sorry they took your methadone away.

I am still on it and think it works wonders too. I do know that it can interact with some other meds, and that in some people it can cause heart rhythm disturbances, but my pain doc says that as long as we monitor me very closely it's just fine. Can you discuss the issue with your doctors and find out exactly why they think this drug is not a good choice for you?

In your other post you said you were taking Oxycontin? Guess I'm confused....maybe the percocet says oxycodone + apap? That would make sense then.

ad--I take MSContin 60mg 3x a day. I used to take Oxycontin 80mg 2x a day. I still take the same breatkthru, oxycodone 10mg 4x a day....I also take Soma which is a muscle relaxer.

04/17/09 Crohn's disease almost killed me with a combo of extreme constipation from pain medications. My bowel ruptured, I almost died from peritonitis and spent several days in the ICU then more in a private room on the floor. If you have any questions about severe constipation from pain meds please don't hesitate to send me a message.
