I get these sudden really strong pains every once in a while. They are so bad it doubles me over. It is sort of like having a really bad cramp but it isn't that time of month. I've had these since the start of the IC. I am going to ask Uro today if I can try doing the heparin at home again. Just have to ask him how to get the cap of the needle without stabbing myself all the time.

It could be bladder spasms. There are several medications that will help prevent spasms --- Hyoscyamine, Urispas, Sactura, and others I'm sure.
You might want to talk to your uro about trying an antispasmodic.

Yes! I do get those extra sharp "bend me over" pains! They remind me alot of labor pains, and I think they are some sort of spasm, for me atleast. Donna has some great suggestions as to what would help.

This happened to me again yesterday. I have my ongoing 24/7 pain, and then this was beyond that. I haven't had it this bad for quite awhile, but considering it was my birthday you know, it was important to give me a "present", lol. I went out to lunch with a friend and had steak. Well, that obviously was WRONG because I got the "attack" and a bad case of IBS at the same time. MISERABLE!
I spent the rest of my birthday trying to kill this flare and napping. Lotsa fun....Real nice welcome to the 40's. LOL.

Wow, those have happened to me a few times over the past year, always at the end of my period or a few days after my period has ended. And always in the morning when I first wake up. I have no idea what they are, but they are soooo painful. But, I don't think they are (for me) bladder spasms, because ibuprofen makes them go away like magic, and the pain is constant rather than in waves. I think in my case they are from something in my reproductive tract.
Hope the pains leave you alone soon!
Blessings,
Lori

I don't have any reproductive tract left, so I was thinking mine was from my intestines or something. It's so hard to tell and I can't keep taking parts out till we figure it out. Sigh...

Moonheart, I do get those intestines spasms also since I had my gallbladder remove about 5 years ago. The thing with bladder spasms, at least for me, is that the pain can carry on down the leg and also start the pain in the vagina but not all the time. To be honest with you, it feels like you have a hernia in your lower abdomen and you are completely tearing it part each time you move.
I never really had problems with intestine problems before until the surgery was done. It just seems that everything is close by and sometimes react the same way, so the possibilities of it being the intestines or bladder it still can be one or the another.
Just hope we all can find ways to get better and continuing to improve.
Hugs, Trishann
