  • Getting worse and scared!

I was sent to ER Fri, and as I wrote in my last entry had a horrible time with ER doc treating me like a drug seeker. He seemed to think I have a kidney infection ( the pain in my right flank that radiates down my groin not to mention peeing is a new adventure in pain), but the cat scan showed the top of my kidney was enlarged and maybe the whatever you call it, the tube that comes out the top of the kidney may be enlarged also. The pain is still so bad 80mgs of oxycontin has done nothing. I just put a call into my pain doc who is kind and supportive but I am getting really scared. The pain comes inwaves and when it hits I can't stand, sit lay down--I do notknow what to do! The icing on the cake is yesterday I found a lump under my arm--Okay I am really scared and so sorry that I am rambling. I got the name of a new urologist who will have the ER results and I am going to try and get in Monday. If anyone has any thoughts about this I would really appreciate them! Thanks--Malone

I am sorry you are in so much pain. The right flank pain radiating is something I have lived with for 20 years. So I know that, they always thought it was endometreosis, had several surgeries for that until when I reached 44 and knew I didn't want anymore kids,my gyn said lets do a hysto, so they took everything out, ovaries, cervix everything. That did not stop the flank pain, it is always a due ache, but then when I do too much activity, it will get sharp and go down the leg.

Now for your knot under arm, how old are you? Have you had a mamogram? If not, you may want to get that checked out.

Let's us know here what happens next week.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. About a month ago I had symtoms that mirrored yours completely. The pain in my middle right side of my back was so intense and then it moved to my groin. I couldn't pee in the mornings too, and I've never had any problem getting it to come out (never thought I'd have it happen where I couldn't pee!). I was sure I had kidney infection or stones but I had several UA's done and saw my uro and my primary doc and they couldn't find anything. Luckily the symptoms went away in about 2wks and haven't returned. Uro said she thinks its some sort of a virus.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!!! Do get the lump checked out also. Best to be safe.
      Good luck.

I have a little concern about the lump under your arm. Do you have a primary care physician? If so, I think you should try to get an appointment ASAP.

        Sending gentle hugs,
        Donna

Please please get the lump checked. As a breast cancer survivor I can not emphasize this enough. It could be nothing but a mammogram is in order I think if you have not had one. See your PC right away.

                  Thanks

Thanks for all the concern--I really do appreciate it. The lump has disappeared but I have a gyn appt. anyway. As for the other, well It is like a lesson in futility. This is the second time I have had the flank pain and the only difference is in Sept. I ran a fever that would go to 103 for a week. This time it stayed around 100. The pain is almost gone but I do not think any of my doctors really know what caused it. They just want to say kidney stone and there really is not a lot I can do. I am so upset b/c before this my bladder had gone into a spontaneous remission and had slowly lowered my dose of Oxycontin from around 60mg 3X a day to 1 percoset 3X a day and felt great! Now my bladder is on fire and I just want to put my head down and cry! Hope you guys are doing well and again, thanks--Malone
