I contacted my Uro's nurse today and I told her that I had a Y--- infection last week and that I went thru most of my pain pills....I also told her that if the Uro. was not comfortable prescribing the pain meds...that I would like a referral to the pain clinic here in town. I also told her that I was building up a slight tolerance to the meds. and that I wanted them to know that too. She wants to try DMSO as a last option. I told her I would. She called me back and said that the Uro. will prescribe the necessary meds for pain and then I set up my first DMSO appointment for tom. I am very nervous about it. But, have to try. I am really relieved that I can be so open with them and they are working with me, instead of having to go to the pain clinic. So, there are some Uro's out there who care about your pain. I think it is important to keep the lines of communication open at all times...I always call when I go thru more of my pain meds....so that they are not surprised if I call earlier for a refill. Jess, if you read this, thanks for all your support. So, far it looks like I won't have to travel to your area to see your great Dr's. Not yet anyways....:0)

That is great news, Dana! I hope your uro continues to help you.I know how hard it is to travel to see a doctor, my interstim uro is an hour away, and it's the pits when I was going through the surgeries and when I have to get reprogrammed! But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you won't have to make that trip. What a relief that your uro is working with you!
Hugs and love,
JessMommy to 2 crazy, wonderful kids and wife to the most amazing man in the world!

Dana,
Glad you're trying dmso. For me I noticed an improvement after the second treatment. Advice, take pain med and valium if you have to relax you before hand, that't what my dr. told me. Like you I was very nervous, I don't like anyone going around there, you know! But I asked my dr. before hand to show me the instruments and what he would do. The first 3 visits a friend brought me and I held in the waiting area as long as I could (10-20 minutes). I had 4 treatments.
So good luck to you and feel free to pm me.
Warm hugs,
Julie
