  • Help! Need an an anti-inflam med!

I have a back problem in addition to ic and it has gotten to the point that I am having trouble walking, which is not good since I am a teacher.

Has anyone found an anti-inflamatory medication that doesn't make you flare?

The one I started yesterday is called Diclofenac and my bladder feels like it may be starting to flare. I can walk better today, so I think I might have to suffer through the side effects of it until summer when I can go to physical therapy...

Please let me know if you have found a good medication. Thanks!
    Elinor

    natural ones

Have you tried any natural supplements to reduce inflammation? I am talking about basic ones like fish oil and flax oil capsules? The only pain med that I've been give is tramadol. You still need a prescription for it, but it is non narcotic. The regular tramadol worked good for me - they now came out with Tramadol ER (extended release) that my doctor put me on. It's wierd but I don't think it works anywhere like the regular tramadol. Hope this helps.

About the only anti-inflammatory drugs I can tolerate are the steroids. I can get away with one dose of anti, but then it causes a flare.

I tried a number of antinflamatories before trying ponstan. I seem to be able to take this one with no added bladder problems, my Dr. says it is particulary good for pelvis pain.
I was pleasently surprised to find it helpped. I too have a sore back. When taking NSAIDs they can take awhile to work so you need to take them reg for a few weeks to get full effect. But you can discuss with you Dr. Ponstan is a RX. med.
My are with you all. May you all find a way to peace and joy in your lives.

          Pyroxicam

My Uro prescribed pyroxicam as an anti-inflammatory. It doesn't seem to make my IC worse, and does tend to calm the inflammation in my bladder.

Thank you so much for the information, everyone. I have continued to take advil this week and am a bit better. Still, it is a relief to know there are a couple drugs out there that might work in case this gets worse again, and I bought some fish oil to try.
