Has anyone tried Cystex? It's an OTC med and the doc I talked to yesterday who is teaching now but used to treat a LOT of IC patients told me that I should never be without it. It's not like Azo in that doesn't discolor your urine. I just took my first 2 so I guess we'll see.
Katie-46 yr old female dx'd with IC after 15 years of symptoms off and on long term antibiotic use, GERD,IBS and now IC diet, gallbladder removed, endometrial ablation w/tubes tied
    Lexapro-20 mg
    Aciphex
    Ambien-as needed
Percocet-7.5 up to 3 per day as needed
    Valium-10 mg x2 per day
    Phenergan-1 at night
    Prelief w/everything
    Now recovering from acute pancreatitis

    Currents treatments that help somewhat:
    Heating pad
    Hot baths
    Ice
Being VERY still while lying down with legs elevated

I've used it off and on. I find it to work just as well as Azo w/o the possible stomach upset Azo is known to cause in some people. And like you mentioned it doesnt discolor the urine.

Personally, it didn't work for me as well as AZO did but the fact that it doesn't give you orange pee is nice. haha

          Cystex update

I'm not sure if it's the Cystex or just happenstance but my urethral spasms have not been as bad. It hasn't really done anything for my bladder pain though. So if it's working, then it's only sorta working. Little bit it better than nothing, right?

And you're right about no color change!! That's just such a pain!!

That's good. When my IC is bad, I get an awful and umcomfortable tingling/tickling sensation in what feels like my urethra. I CANNOT concentrate on ANYTHING except that constant sensation. It adds to the feeling that I have to pee and just makes it feel all around uncomfortable. Anyway, for that feeling, AZO worked a lot better for me. I'm glad Cystex seems to be helping you!
