I have an appt. on the 8th see him. I'm excited since he specializies in IC. What sucks is I'm in such severe pain. I have 13 days until I see him and have done nothing but roll around and cry and scream for a week. What am I going to do? Does anyone know what he may do for my pain? Right now I'm on Emilron twice a day, and Hydroxizine once a day and taking ibuprofen 800mg every 4 hrs. why I don't know it's not helping. Please send me strength. I have a little boy plus work and this is all becoming too much for me.

I'm sorry you're in such misery. You're very fortunate to be able to see Dr. Evans. I've heard many, many good things about him.
One thing about your post caught my attention --- ibuprofen --- I can't take it. It causes both stomach and bladder pain for me.

You sound like you are in a whole lot of pain. Maybe you should go to your local urgent care unit or ER. They likely can give you something stronger that should hold you up till your doctors appt. Ibruprofen 800 doesnt do anything for me. Neither does Tramadol. but they may have something else they can give you. They usually ask you what your pain level is on a scale of 1-10 and they go off of that to see how to best treat your pain. Hopefully you new doctor will be able to assist you in that area as well. Good LuckDiagnosed with IC October 2009- through bladder biopsy (no glomerations or hunners ulcers found, just irritation)
I have moderate-severe IC
Currently stopped taking all medications due to pregnancy

So sorry you are in such pain! Like Donna, ibuprofen causes me more bladder pain and frequency so that may be making your problems worse. I, too would suggest maybe an urgent care center (I think they are more cooperative and less judgmental usually) and just tell them your story and see if you can get a couple of weeks of something stronger. Maybe they could even give you a shot to help get things under control. Hang in there...it will get better.Live life to the fullest day to day. The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!

I never knew the ibuprofen would make the bladder pain worse. GREAT. Our care centers ie: er, urgent care and after care are lets say not known to wanna give out pain meds. This county has a high rate of accidental od's so they are all scared. Except for if you are actually a druggie you can get it. I'm at my wits end. I'm in so much pain right now. The CT they did the other day showed calcification on my liver which my dr. agrees probably is coming from taking so much ibuprofen. I'm at a loss here. I can't play with my kid, I went to bed at 730 last night. i don't wanna be at work, I don't wanna move. Mr. Dr. tried the rescue solution Friday but it only helped for like 2 hours. I will probably call him tomorrow he's a good gyno and see what they say.

I had another thought for you. If you could get the doc who did the rescue solution to allow you to get them every few hours until your appt. I did that once and my doc had his nurse show me how to catheterize myself and instill the meds at home. He sent me home with a weeks worth of catheters and scripts for the med with instructions on how to do it. I could do on every 4 hours so even if one helped only a couple of hours I had some more relief and it seemed somewhat cummulative as well. It's not convenient either way but neither is pain. Just a thought...Live life to the fullest day to day. The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!
