  • Looking for Article on Dependence vs. Abuse

Several years back there was an EXCELLENT article over on the ICN site regarding the difference between dependence on a drug and being a drug abuser, but I'm not being able to find it. It was someone that one could use to explain the difference to family members and so on.

Any old timers remember to what Im referring?

    Thanks,

    Boo

I think it may be Dr. Daniel Brookoff's lecture you're looking for.

Thanks Donna! That's excellent, but it's not what I was referring to.

What I'm talking about was an article published over @ the IC Network site (where the store is, etc. But it wasn't IN the store for purchase)

It talked about the difference between Narcotics dependence vs. Narcotics abuse, and how, sadly, many IC patients are mistakenly labeled as "drug seekers", because they're so preoccupied with getting steady pain meds to control the chronic issue of IC-pain.

It's honestly THE BEST article (and it was fairly short) I've ever read addressing this issue.

If ANYONE recalls seeing it, please let me know. I'm searching in every way I can; site search, Google, whatever....but no luck yet. I'm a little afraid it's been taken down; but even if it was, surely there'd be a "library", somewhere, of past articles, no?

      Thanks,
