    methadone

    I just had a checkup with my uro and since ive taken many ic meds like elmiron, atarax, elavil, neurotin and cystoprotek and im still having pain issues she suggested lyrica (if i can afford it) and if nothing else methadone. is there anyone taking methadone for pain?


    My urgency and frequency is much better down to 8-12x a day and 1x a night but my pain is horrendous. 5-6 days out of the week im a 6-8 in pain and have been taking my pain meds more and more. Im scared what people will think if i do take methadone. im also scared of dependency and/or addiction. my mom is addicted to narcotics and it has ruined her life and our relationship. its a scary thing. But i want adequate pain control. Also, does it make you feel loopy or high? When I take my 10mg vicodin (cant take percocet) i dont feel high or loopy.
    Diagnosis: IC '09, vulvodynia '10, fructose intolerance '06, GERD '06, fibromyalgia '09, IBS '10 and TMJ '09, PCOS '11, genital herpes '12

    Current Meds: Butrans patch, welbutrin, lamictol, geodon, xanax, aldactone, linzess, topimax, trazadone and diflucan as needed.

    Meds tried before: Elmiron, elavil, antibiotics, welbutrin, cymbalta, prozac, nerve blocks, instills, nyastatin, flexerol, percocet, naproxen (which was what I was given for pain for years).

    I would take 1-2 10mg norco a day on a bad day. if i was a 4-6 pain i wont take anything. She said we could try cycloporine but i elected not to because i get sick very easy anyways. she referred me to pain management so i guess i will see what they say. she didnt say much about why methadone just that she thought that would be the next route if neurotin or lyrica didnt work. Ive taken neurotin in the past not lyrica.

      she also said that taking norco to get rid of pain isnt helping anyone and it isnt a good treatment option for me. she said she wants to find somehting that works all the time so i have no breakthrough pain what so ever and also because i told her that norco only dulls the pain never gets rid of it completely.
