Desperate for names of uros or gyno/uros in AB.

I just heard from my GP today that my beloved uro suddenly had to close his practice due to medical issues. I was on his wait list for a year, but he was worth the wait.

I went through a lot of duds before finding this one, and I can't go back to my previous one in the mean time, not that he was very good, but at least I could get into seeing him if the need arised without being a new pt and having the extra wait to see him. I guess he died a year or so ago, this was sudden too, and I don't think he would have been any older than mid 50's.

Thanks for any names and contact info you can give me. It doesn't matter where in AB it is I have to travel to see specialists anyways.

    Thank MG
My are with you all. May you all find a way to peace and joy in your lives.

    Rocky View Hospital in Calgary

I went and saw Dr. Metcalfe at the Rocky View Hospital in Calgary. I thought he was excellent. I honestly don't know if he sees women patients though as his office is next to the prostrate cancer clinic. Worth a phone call to find out though! 403-943-8973

    I hope this helps.

My appologies MG! I was looking through the forum and realized I never did answer your question.

Yes, he definitely treats IC and seems quite good. I hope that you have already contacted him (and possibly others) to help you on your way.

thanks i went to one in vancouver, i am not too sure about him yet, but will see i will at least give him a good chance, i see him again in sept.

for now he is collecting past test results etc. so maybe he will have an idea what is going on when i go back

upside is the retention at least is the best it has been in quite awhile, so i am not desprate.

I found a uro in Vancouver who specilizes in IC and retention.

He seems ok, but it is such a long trip for me to make I can't see him very often.

He told my GP to teach me to self cath and to put me on a low dose AB.

Since I have done this things have improved greatly.

I was getting UTI's from retention 2x's per mon, since emplying these to things I have not had a single UTI. Last one was before starting these things last September.

I still follow the diet cloesly and not all IC symptoms are gone but easier to deal with without a contant UTI.

I am also going for more DMSO treatments. Second round for 6 weeks. They did help me. Hope and pray, that"s all we can do. Have a great day. Thinking of you. Jo

Hi. How have you been doing? Did you find a new Urogolist? Have not been on this for awhile. I still have night pain. Still have not heard from Lois hole hospital. For the support group. Waiting to see a support group close to me in pelvic floor pain. Everything still takes time. Go to the primary care place in Morniville. And in St. Albert. Saw the dietitan and pscho. And Pharasist. Have helped me alot. Do you have Primary care in Calgary. Small units of health care set up to help people, to take the load off of emerency rooms. Let me know how you are. Jo
