  • Pelvic floor physiotherapists in Vancouver

I've been researching pelvic floor physiotherapists in Vancouver. I've come up with four different clinics that do it, usually just one physio at each clinic (but 3, at one clinic) and a couple that do home visits.

I haven't yet contacted all of them, but where I've found out prices, I include that below.

I'd like to narrow down the list by recommendations: has anyone tried any of these pelvic floor physiotherapists for interstitial cystitis? How informed did you find each to be about IC, and how much did the treatments help your IC?

    Thanks

    Lisa

    ______
Severe IC developed fairly quickly, autumn 2010.
So severe that I was bed-bound & on 160mg/day morphine to cope with torturous pain levels, and unable to function other than hospital/medical appointments, for seven months. Then, miracle of miracles, something started working. I am steadily lowering the methadone dose level. I have been far out of that desperate nightmare hell zone for several months now and continue to improve.

    - Ranitidine (anti-histamine, H2-inhibitor) 300mg/day
    - Methadone 9 ml/day
    - Instillations:
    - 40ml Kenalog (steroid for inflammation) 2 x per
week, along with rescue cocktail of heparin,
    lidocaine, sodium bicarbonate
    - 20ml Uracyst, monthly @ $100/per
    - Depo lupron injections for endometriosis, monthly @ $88/per

    Hi Lisa,

I have a wonderful pelvic physiotherapist in Fort St. John. I can ask her if she knows any of the ones you have researched and get her opinion. If you ever get a chance check out lifeisnow website. Neil Pearson is a physiotherapist who specializes in pain management. He works out of UBC but lives in Kelowna(I think). He does yoga retreats on Saltspring Island etc. Check out the podcasts on his website. He has 3 about pain. My physiotherapist has been to his lectures and uses his materials in her practice. Personal Message me if you wish. I currently see Dr. Teichman at St. Paul's in Vancouver. He has an IC clinic there.
