Hi icgrrl, unfortunately I'm not in the NOLA, but I am in LA, south of Shreveport. Have you found anyone in your area? Hope you are doing well! -
Hi Spring 2011!
I have made a few contacts in my area, hoping to connect with some more. I have a good support team in my family and friends, but having someone who understands this disease is really very helpful. I am disabled, but doctor is doing what she can to keep me comfortable. How about you?
take care up there!ICGRRL

Hi Babeygrrl, just sent you a friend request via IC Network. I've been formally diagnosed since 2007, and it's been quite a wild ride since then. I've played guinea pig with so many treatments, but I still have not lost hope. Hoping to get to you know you; I'll be on the boards more, and you can also reach out to me via Facebook. Us NOLA IC gals need to stick together! Take care,ICGRRL

acooper, I am so sorry I have not been in the forum sooner! This has been a nasty season in NOLA, and IC is being nasty right along with it. I am sending you a friend request. Again, please forgive my late response. Maybe we could meet up for a steamed milk after dr appts? Gentle IC hugs!!!ICGRRL

Well hello there! How are you, are you feeling well? There has been some harsh weather up there this week, I hope it didn't cause you any issues! I have in-laws on the North Shore and try to see them as often as I can; it is a nice little drive when I am feeling well enough to leave the house. Have you been able to find good healthcare providers on the North Shore, or do you come down to New Orleans or Baton Rouge for your treatment? I have been with Dr McSherry for *years*, but she is retiring next month (I am going to miss her so much!) so I had to get in with new doctors she referred. The process
is of establishing new caregivers was stressful but for now all is going quite well and I am so glad I got in early. I was fortunate to meet another IC'er while I was waiting for an appointment in the city, she is also from the North Shore area.My goodness, that just made my day! She was absolutely lovely and so kind. It is rare for me to meet another person in our who has IC and is willing to talk about it; I was so happy she gave me the opportunity. I'd love to talk/chat with you to share experiences while living with IC and coping strategies, would you be interested? If you want to email me directly vs forum, I am at [email protected]; my forum notices are up again now so if you message me here I should get it. Have a wonderful night, and thank you for reaching out to me!ICGRRL

Hi icgrrl!
I saw this thread when I was looking online for any sort of ic support group in New Orleans. I live here and have been suffering from ic for more than 3 1/2 years now. I have never met anyone else who has it. I dont suffer from it too severely and I have been able to make a lot of lifestyle changes that have been able to help alot, but I still get flairs ups that can become very severe and I have had mostly HORRIBLE experiences here when I have tried to seek help from doctors. I would love to talk more to you. It has really been somewhat of a very lonely experience for me (even though I have a loving family and partner) and to talk more to someone in the area that can understand what we go through would be great!! So I hope to here from you soon! And I hope you're feeling okay!

Hi y'all, I too am a patient of Dr. McSherry and will miss her so much. I've been diagnosed with IC for 4 years. We should try to meet for a Saturday morning sharing. Message me if you are interested. LaMadeleines next to Lakeside Shopping Center would be a great place to chat. Central to Northshore, N.O. And Metairie.Comment

Re: Anyone in New Orleans area?
Hi to all in the Greater NOLA area. I was recently diagnosed (Oct. '13) and it seems like my world has been turned upside down since then. Luckily I'm told it's in the early stages but I still don't have this diet thing under control yet. I live on the Northshore but my dr. Is in Metairie.
I just found this site today and was thrilled. Don't know anyone else to talk to about my illness and would love an opportunity to exchange ideas or possibly meet. I, too, have a great support system but I feel that no one knows unless you are going through the same thing.
Hope my NOLA IC'ers are doing ok and I hope to hear from you,Comment
