Urologist in Southern Vermont

Does anyone know of any Urologist in Southern Vermont area, possibly Dartmouth Hitchcock in Lebanon New Hampshire, doctor I have is too limited in treatment. Pat

Have you tried Dr.Michael Curtis? He has an office in Bellows Falls and one in White River.

Thanks for your reply Judith, I haven't heard of that doctor, I see one in Springfield Vermont that has just one bladder treatment he will use on me, has helped some but not allot, and have now found out that insurances aren't covering it so will have to pay for it myself. Just hoping that maybe a different doctor might have more things to try. Feel kind of backed against the wall with no choices. Will have to see if I can get a referral from my primary to see this other doctor. Is this who you see? If so do you like him . Thanks Pat

Pat, I now have urostomy because of IC, but I have seen him for this. He does treat IC patients, I know because he told me and he even asked me about my experiences with IC so that he help other patients. He is very nice and knows his stuff. My husband has also gone to him and he is open minded and even recommended an herbal therapy for him that helped his problem! He is very easy to talk to and I bet you could even call and ask to talk to him before plunking down money to see him.At least it might be worth trying. While for most of my urological care I drive down to Lahey Clinic because that is where I had my surgery, I would not hesitate to call him if I needed a urologist right away and could not get down to Lahey. I don't know if she's still there, but I went to see Dr. Gormley at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Lebanon a few times. I really liked her, she's extremely knowledgable about IC.

Depending on how far you are willing to go to see a uro, there's a private practice in Keene, N.H. (about 30 minutes east of Brattleboro) that's great. Drs. Funk and Murata are both excellent. I used to see Dr. Funk (he's the uro that finally diagnosed me), but my insurance won't cover him any more. I saw Dr. Murata last fall when I had a flare and he spent lots of time talking to me about what I've already tried for treatments, what's currently available, and what might work best now.

I've seen some great uros and a few quacks, and having a compassionate, concerned, knowledgable doctor can be so helpful in finding the best treatment option(s) for you. I hope you find someone great soon.

Just an update and thanks for the replys on my post. Judith, I talked to my primary doctor about seeing a different uro, and he brought up Michael Curtis and highly recommended him, his office set me up for an appointment, went yesterday, seems very nice and gave me some ideas of options for us to pursue, so we will see how things go.
