• MEDICAL PAPER WORK STINKS!!! HELP!!!!

Well I've sceduled a cysto with Hydro for APril 2nd.

The hospital calls to say I have to arrange a payment schedule to pay off the $900+ I owe them.

$900!!! Are they smokin' crack?!?!?

These bills are from 1996 and 1997. I've had many different insurance companies during that time. One of which had gone belly-up in 1998.

What can I do!? I won't just submit and reliquish $1000. Especially wehere I had coverage for these things. Plus the hospital says they sent out bills, I say I never got them. One woman told me they never sent out bills, they just sent me straight to collection. (How can I pay bills if they don't send them to me?!?!?!?

Another woman said that this woman is prolly new and doesn't know how to "read the screens" correctly.

Help! What action can I take? It's me VS the Hospital Billing department.

I live on the North Shore in Massachusetts.....
Please help!!!!

Somewhere there's a reason /Why things go like they do /Somewhere there's a reason /Why some things just fall through /We don't always see them /For what they really are /But I know there's a reason /Just can't see it from this far /Maybe I don't like it, /But I have no choice /I know that somewhere, /Someone hears my voice / I thought I knew it all /I thought I had it made /How could it end this way? /I thought I knew Somewhere there's a reason /Why things don't go my way /Somewhere there's a reason /That I cannot explain /Just like the change of season, /Just may not be my turn /But I know there's a reason, /The lesson's mine to learn

I suggest that you write them a letter and mail it by certified mail --- telling them that you will not pay any portion of the bill until they have provided you with a detailed statement, indicating exactly what was billed to your insurance, how much was paid in each instance, and the reason the insurance company gave for not paying the bill.

You also have a right to ask them to outline for you the dates when statements were mailed and to what address. If you haven't received any statements, tell them that as well.

I wouldn't hurt to send a copy to the hospital licensing agency in your state.

This happened to us yvette and I told them if they would send me an itemized statement with dates, times and services provided, plus the SS# of who the service was provided for, I would be willing to listen to what they had to say.....I never heard another word from them. Sure hope you get as lucky as I did~

You probably already know this and it doesn't help with the bill situation, but medical bills can't ruin your credit. Also, I have had difficulty in the past with bills from the hospital that got sent to a collection agency, they were never that large. However, I called the insurance and the hospital and the agency and refused to pay. I told the hospital to call my insurance and then I never heard any more. Good luck and hang in there. Our medical system stinks.
