hi Is there anyone out there from the Elizabethtown (E'town) area? I live south of there & work in E'town. I would be interested in starting something to make people aware of IC in our area. I would like to know how many of us with this condition there are in Central Kentucky. I've been told the condition is "quite common". Let me know if you are out there. grouphug

I'm in Northern KY, about 20 minutes from Cincinnati. I soooo wish I could find another ICer that lives close by. Like Ihurttoo said, it takes another IC'er to understand our plight.Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

I am in Louisville and go to the Hubbard Clinic. They have a website, noting once a month support groups for IC patients. When looking at the IC SG schedule, it's doesn't appear to be montly.
I was planning on attending the next group to check it out.
Below is the website. I copied and pasted the support group info.
The support group is meeting the first Tuesday of every other month from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The meetings are held at the Hubbard Clinic. The support group explores treatment plans, coping mechanisms and general support for interstitial cystitis. The support group is an open forum headed by our Nurse Practitioner, Jan Eklund. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jan at (502)893-3510.
The 2006 IC support group meeting dates are 3/7/2006, 5/2/2006, 7/11/2006, 9/5/2006, and 11/7/2006.
I too would be interested in getting a more active group going. We can all take turns meeting at different locations to share pear juice and bladder cocktails. (smile)Comment

I am in Bowling Green. I would love to meet other ICers, but Louisville is a bit far for me. (I am still having alot of unresolved pain issues). However I may have to go there to find a pain center that can get me in and that will prescribe my pain meds. So if I do, I may try to schedule on the day of the meeting there and then just stay the night up there. I will let you know if this happens. My doc has told me he'd give me a referral, but our local one doesnt prescribe pain meds and cant see me til Feb 27th. So I am looking elsewhere now. So if you know a good place, please post or PM me. Thanks! I would love to find something closer to BG. (Preferably within 1hr or less radius.) It would be great to find a group close to me.Comment

As I mentioned, I go the The Hubbard Clinic. I can say, they have been all about doing whatever it takes to TRY and make my pain go away. Seem to have NO concerns about prescribing meds. If you can't drive to see them, maybe they could give you a referral.
Melinda Staten works there and she is my ANGEL. I know that she would be more than happy to help you out.
If you make it this way and would rather be with a friend, feel free to contact me.
Great luck to you!Comment

letha, whatcha doin' awake too? I hope u havent been hurting all night too. Thank you for the info. I see my doc today. I will try my best to get some relief, but he still cant get me in anywhere or help me himself, I guess I'll be calling the Hubbard Clinic. Thank you for your kind offer. I may take you up on it. Quite frankly, I must obviously be saying something wrong since I cant get a dr to treat the pain. I am glad to know you have found compassionate care. I have been suffering for almost 5 years! My quality of life is zero. I doubt anyone would notice if I were dead. B/c no one sees me now unless they come to my bed to talk to me or thru the bathroom door. I am serious. We have those normal conversations that most people have over the dinner table, only mine are over the toilet. You will never know how much hope you have given me. I had almost given up when I read your post, and it supplied me with enough hope to carry me thru till I can get there. Hope may not sound like very much to some people, but for me, it's all I've got. And until your post, I did not even have that. I wish I could create new words for thank you, b/c those just dont express well enough what I feel. I am indebted to you. If you ever need anything at all, please let me know. I want to help you like you have helped me. Very Sincerely, AmyComment
