hey i'm from central ohio (mt. vernon). anybody around from ohio?
I have had IC since age 19 after a series of UTI's. Had a few remissions. No other health issues. I'm now 30. Trying to get my symptoms under control again, slowly getting there! On IC diet and artesian water, trying to eat more natural and less processed foods. Lots of hot baths (sometimes with baking soda and tea tree oil).

My mom was recently diagnosed with IC with symptoms begining the end of 2010 and now my 8 year old son is having burning & stinging discomfort with and following urination and urgency/frequency.

    MEDS
    Elavil 50mg evening
    Atarax 25mg 1-2x daily
    Elmiron 2 tabs 2x daily
Baclofen 10mg 2-3x daily (muscle relaxer prescribed after a urodynamics test)
    Orth Tri Cyclen

    Cystoprotek 2 tabs 2x daily, restarted 01/11
Fish oil tabs 2x daily, started 01/11
    MSM 2x daily, started 01/11
    Prelief as needed
marshmallow root & chamomile tea (tastes better together)

Seems like ALOT of meds (Rx & OTC) but I'm desperate in getting relief and I am feeling better.

Southwest Ohio here! Just last week I chatted with someone from your city who is not diagnosed yet but was seeing a uro this week. There seem to be several of us on the recipe exchange thread of the Diet & IC Board.

    Any more Buckeyes?

            Hi,

I grew up in Northern Ohio. I now live in Northern Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati. I guess I still consider myself a Buckeye.

Been a while since this has been an active post, but thought I should go ahead and answer just in case someone's still checking it. I'm from Mansfield, OH, so I'm actually very close to you. Hopefully you're doing well, and feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

                  Hi Lindsay,
I'm still around the ICN boards. Hope you are doing well. Rob, good to see you're still out there too. Hope you both have found good management techniques for your IC!

I'm meeting with Dr. Tony Buffington at Ohio State today to learn about his exciting IC research. I just started a new position on staff at OSU about a month ago and made contact with him via email due to an article in an oncampus employee newsletter about cats and IC. Will post more later!

Hello to you as well MelanieJ! I'm still lurking out here. I'm working with Dr. Woodworth still and we're going to try out an implant early in the year. I'm not completely filled in on the details yet, but it's not the TENS unit. Similar, but not the same he tells me. I'll post to the appropriate board when I get some details to let everyone know how it goes.
I've had it pretty bad for the past year or so. It's basically driving and any time period following driving. The spasms are incredible. He says I'm perfect for what he has in mind, so I'm really looking forward to it.
Hopefully all is going well with you. Congrats on your new position. Dr. Woodworth was talking to me about some research with cats and the adrenal gland. He's taken some blood from me for some studies, but I've never given him a sample during a really bad flare (I have no desire to drive for an hour and a half to give him a blood sample when I'm hurtin' wink ).
                    Happy Holidays all!
                    Rob

I'm in Columbus. Great to hear there are others in this area. I have been looking into pelvic floor therapy. Anyone know of practitioners in this area?
