Hello everyone.I am glad that I found this website.It has been very helpful as i have been relating info back to my mom.She has been diagnosed with i-c about almost 3 years ago.We currently do not have a i-c group down here or no one to personally talk to by phone about i-c.It would be nice to form a i-c group down here.if there is anyone from Memphis,tn that belongs to this board i sure would love to hear from you.Hopefully to find someone for my mom to talk to.She feels so alone with dealing with this illness by herself.I think that she would feel better if she had someone to talk to that is going through this.I do not know how to go about starting an i-c group but I sure would like to also get some tips about how to do that as well.Patients with i-c need all the support that they can get.

Welcome to the ICN!
There is a support group in Memphis. They meet at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. I don't know exactly where you are located, so it might or might not be a drive for you or your mom.
I'm glad you are doing alot of research about IC.
You definitely can get tons of support here also. But it would be nice to actually spend time with someone, face to face, who can relate to running to the restroom all the time.

Thanks Jamie for the info.But I do not know where Tommie Moore is.She has disappeared.When my mom first came down with this she was having flareups like every couple of months.I went to the library(this was before we got a computer for our home) and searched and searched on their computer to find an i-c group down here and that was when I found Tommie Moore.It was not this website but another one that had her home and work phone number.She worked at a radio station but now I cannot remember the radio staion that she worked at.I called her and talked to her at her work.At the time she was putting a hold on the meetings for a couple of months (We are talking almost 4 years ago).Well when the next meeting did come around then momma did not want to go.She was not having any flare-ups.I tried to pursuade her but still she did not want to go.So about two and a half years ago when here symptoms started worsening,than that was when I tried to call Tommie.Phone number has been changed.I tried to email her.It is not a valid email address anymore.I called Baptist Hospital and no one knows where she is and I misplaced her work number.So I do not even know if she is in memphis anymore period or what has personally happened to her.All i know is that there are no meetings down here at all and we desperately need a support group.I am willing to get one started I just do not know how to go about doing that.The nearest support groups are in Nashville,Knoxville,and Chattanooga tennesse.Which are all a couple of hrs a drive from me.There is no way that mom could stand those long drives in her condition.Thank you for your help anyway.I do not know how I am going to do this but I am determined to get a meeting started up down here.

I am in the Memphis area. There are also a couple others from here or near here who post.

I also tried to contact Tommie about a year ago through Baptist. They were able to find her and she gave them her phone number to give to me. I called her and spoke with her. She told me that she had been having alot of personal problems but wanted to start the support group up again and that she would call me with more info. That was the last time I heard from her. As far as I know, there is not an active support group in this area.

I would be glad to have contact with your mom and you. I know just how lonely this disease can make you feel. There is another lady here with whom I have been e mailing. I just met her here on the boards a week or so ago. Hopefully, she will read your posts and respond.

Don't forget that there are also so many wonderful people from all over the country who come here for support and to give support. Lean on them and learn from them. That is what these boards were designed to do. I can tell you from experience that the ICN is a wealth of information and support...Sharon
